Entering thru the metal grill gates we enter the star foyer with its clusters of hanging lights. Twelve Foot High Carved Antique Wood Double Doors Open and a curved and grilled wall lead you into the Hacienda Colonnade. The first of three flagstone courtyards features a spectacular stone fountain designed by award-winning sculpture and artist Fito Kundo Perez that fetched the top prize for design at the National Artists Fair in Mexico. The Hacienda is arranged in a U shape surrounding this focal point.
From the Colonnade we enter the Hacienda’s Great Room. A corner fireplace with an arching tropical mural of Flying Parrots in Jungle Foliage speaks to Mexico’s early days when Spanish settlers first arrived. I love how these leather Safari chairs embrace that theme. This home is being sold furnished and you will be viewing the current owners amazing furniture collection which is included in the sale as we tour. To the left we step down into the Palm Courtyard but let’s first explore the Hacienda Kitchen to our right.
The kitchen is a celebration of Mexican Tile and wood. A glass door leads back to the colonnade and this impressive carved wooden door leads to a more casual street entrance (a practical entry for those everyday necessities like groceries and staff). A fabulous kitchen Island is perfect as a prep area or even as a serving buffet. There is a tiled Hexigon cupola with chandelier that is reflected by the hexagon carved wooden grand dining table. Spanish sideboards, magnificent paintings, throned chairs and a coffered ceiling that reminds me of the famous church of Talpa de Allende.
The master and guest bedrooms have their own wing and private entrances to the colonnade. Impressive soaring barrel vaults and grand chandeliers. The Guestroom is more than large enough for its two queen beds and twin wardrobes. It has its own ensuite bath that is larger than many living rooms with a lovely wall mural.
The master suite is impressive with its king bed, carved Spanish jewelry console and marching full length mirror. The Master Bath has a large walk in closet, Copper sink and soaking bathtub from Santa Clara del Cobre as well as a spacious shower.
Next to the Master Suite and leading off the Fountain Courtyard is the entertaining Palapa with imported temple gates from Bali, its own carved wooden entertaining bar with wine fridge and another guest half bath. In a corner open to the moon lit sky is a heated spa jacuzzi large enough for 8 with a cascade waterfall.
Hacienda Margarita has the appearance of a historic landmark building but was built in 2008 to modern building standards. Old-world charm with modern comfort like lightning fast Starlink Internet.

We rented this gorgeous property in 2020 from the really nice owner. It's a magical place. Even the silverware, glassware, and plates are exquisite. Wish I could have bought it.

Hi KoiLady. Like many homeowners the builder of this property chose to have a spa instead of a pool. If you wanted a pool it could replace the existing spa OR you would place it where the exisiting fountain is OR on the lower courtard just below the fountain courtyard. I LOVE that is Mexico EVERYTHING is possible

Gorgeous home thats for sure. But seeing that razor wire at the top of the walls tells me that their is a crime issue . How do Americans fair there?

Hi Todd. Many homes Lakeside are owned by wealthy Guadalajara families who have had them for generations. They do not live in those homes and use them only occasionally. The use of razor wire is typical on those homes since they are often unoccupied. What you are seeing is the neighbors wall who use their estate only occasionally. This area is safe and secure.

@@eileencronk7520 Hi Eileen. The home has 2 full bathrooms that are ensuite with the 2 bedrooms. It also has 2 half baths - one in the palm court and one in the palapa. There is space to add a third bedroom and bath over the garage. There is an exisitng staircase to that space that is currently a terrace and plumbing exisits in the utility room directly below - so an easy addition if required for guests or staff
