So glad I seen this and you went into detail. I acquired this mower in excellent shape and the 1974 16 hp cast iron Briggs engine that was on the tractor. He thought it was a Sears but I knew it wasn't. Now I know it was a Gilson. I think Montgomery Ward sold a tractor made by Gilson. This engine has two huge ears that are cast into the oil pan that has big holes through them. I would like to see a video of how it mounted in the tractor.

Now that was a proper gas can!!!!

Do you know anywhere to find parts for these old machines? I bought a '73 earlier this year but it's missing a few parts like the front PTO pulleys and the headlights.

The best source I have found is Ebay or a parts tractor found locally - new parts are non existent.. Gilson was purchased by lawn boy and then lawn boy was purchased by Toro. I have seen some parts labeled Lawn boy, but not many... thanks for watching!

Check out Garden Tractor Talk. They may have the manuals for free downloading. Many old GTs used standard "off the shelf" parts like bearings, pulleys, rods, ball joints, and bushings. Places like Granger carry a wide variety of these parts. Good Luck, Rick

I recently bought a 1981 wheel horse B112 and can’t seem too find any good websites for used parts. And also if your not using the PTO for a mower deck would you need too have the PTO pulley? Because I’m trying too build a garden pulling tractor. Any help will be much appreciated…

I have used Jacks Small Engines website before. If they did not have the part, they would have the parts diagram at least to give you a part number to search on ebay or amazon or elsewhere for the correct part... There are a ton of NOS (New Old Stock) parts on ebay for TORO but you would get better results with the correct part number.... On my Gilson machines, the PTO pulley would not be needed if not using mower of other implements.. its simply a pulley with bearing on a bracket and is a stand alone pulley.... THANKS FOR WATCHING!
