It would help protect their identities. Had Zane continued with his hunt for the mermaid on his own, Emma would've been safe from suspicion with the added detail of being blonde instead of red-headed like Zane saw. Had Cleo and Rikki done the same, they'd be protected in case something similar happened.

I think his acting is bad, most of times (the actor's acting, i mean). He does not have any spark. If it's for acting alone, sorry, but I think the actress playing Charlotte in season 2 was exceptionally good. The character is... bad, ok (evil, whatever), but the actress did it really well. From the girls, I think Rikki>Emma>Cleo. Emma (Claire Holt) being quite good, though, while Cleo's actress was... so lame early on. But as the show progresses, Phoebe Tonkin's acting really grew. Most of the characters don't need Oscar-worthy acting ability, in order to play their characters, but some actors are better than oters. IMO, byron, emma's brother and will (from season 3) have lame acting.

And then he stops smiling because he knows he’s not there to see her and he has to tell her, and then she mirrors him. It’s been over a decade since this episode aired and I still feel the need to point out just how great a job Cariba and Burgess did at making this feel like a real, deep, genuine teenage love.

the fact that Zane likes Rikki enough to give up the mermaid stuff (even if only for a while) just to be with her is so cute 😭😭😭 like and Rikki might be doing it to protect their secret but its obvious it was also an excuse for her to finally say yes 😭😭

I think this is when the hatred for redheads started on this show. Think about it. Emma dyes her hair red, she looks awful and hates the change. Then in the next two seasons, the main antagonists are redheads and are also hated.

Miss Chatham knew abt Rikki and Zane cuz she went through it with her friend Julia and her bad-boy boyfriend Karl too
