The Vanocker. Is advertised as waterproof. I rode 320 miles through France in October most of which was in the rain. My jacket was warm and waterproof. I was amazed how good it was in 48 years of riding I have never had such a good leather jacket.

We don’t really do summer in England but it is fully vented so should be good.

Ditto, it sheds the rain very well and keeps the rider warm. I took the jacked up to Newfoundland in September 2023 and rode in 45F rain for about 2 hours, no water penetrated the jacket. Bomber.

Great review! I would love to see a comparable one done comparing pros/cons of this vs. the FXRG version, especially comparing any difference in how they fit. I have tried on the Vanocker, but have been unable to try the FXRG. If I knew the fit would be similar, I prefer the style and features of the FXRG. However. If the FXRG is a slimmer fit, then it may not work for me.

My experience is that it will. In nearly 50 years of riding I have never had such a versatile jacket.

For right now I am sticking to things we stock in the dealership so that I can try them on, use them and give an honest opinion. If I am able to grow this channel enough though I might be able to get Harley to send me review samples of stuff we don't stock in store!

I've used the pant on several long tours. Very burly product, keeps the wind and rain out.

I bought this and do you know what the zipper inside bottom of the jacket is for?

They have what they call a "riding sneaker"! I just shot a review of it yesterday, the footage is just waiting to be edited. But I have another video already waiting thats done editing, and I am editing the 2021 streetbob review for Matt's Channel, so i am not sure how quickly I will be able to get that video out. Hopefully next week, but if not it will be out the week after next!

@@aucklandsadventures most of the TCX shoes are more expensive than the Bateman ankle pros for example, and I’m not sure if they really offer more protection

@@TH3G0ODGUY TCX Street 3 WP shoe has D3o inserts surrounding the ankle, an anti-crush plate inside the sole and reinforced toe and heel boxes. Seems like a lot more protection for $20 more. HD will get there. I expect the tech of the gear will improve as the bikes do. Fingerless gloves and doo rags don’t cut it on 150hp bikes. Let’s see more of the jackets. It’s good to see they have pockets for armor now.

Where is the rainlayer? Is it laminated at the leather? Or in the winter layer?

There is no rain layer, just thick leather with some good treatment on it. The insert is not waterproof, it is a nylon shell with some insulation in it.

Good video, nice jacket. Ridiculously expensive.

It’s is pricey considering it doesn’t come with the back protector. I will say it’s nicer finished than my alpinestars leather that I paid 450 for, and the leather is softer but no thinner.

What’s the price of this jacket?

The jacket zips to the pants, creating a single layer.

You guys need to check out motolegends in the uk for a proper jacket review on safety and construction . They are the best .

I would prefer that as well but it’s tough to do and keep prices reasonable. I have a fox creek leather jacket that’s very nice, but it was basically the same price as this jacket with way less features and much less detail work. Great jacket though!

It’s a struggle to find good real riding clothes from Harley. I like my safety but so many of their jackets don’t have armor pockets, sliders, and all that. Never seen a single pair of gloves with armored knuckles and “heel” slide protection.

Harley does have an issue with this. It’s a byproduct of the Leather Land Pirate look Harley pushed before. Those people and days and numbered. With the new series of bikes will hopefully come better gear. 150 HP bikes with half finger gloves and a doo rag won’t cut it.

This jacket appears to have been discontinued by HD in late 2023.

so what if the back armor is protruding, you will not see it anyway.....dont worry about what others will see LOL

@@allanmccullough8550 I agree. It’s just really difficult to find things not made in China anymore. When you pay 0 to your workers it’s hard for anybody to compete. My Harley jacket is made in Bangladesh.

@@rickdougherty7521 well I’m not sure which jacket we are talking about but the one I reviewed definitely keeps you warm with it’s thermal liner, and it’s leather construction when paired with the optional armor would offer significant protection.
