I welded for 33 years, 24 ASME certifications, 12 AWS certifications. If my welds looked like that I would have been shown the door. Welding is an art and a science and every day more knowledge is lost due to people like me retiring.

Yeah, no kidding. That short tack weld at the very end of the video looked terrible. They better be grinding that shit off before laying down the first pass.

Camera work made me sea sick....

Maybe they could speed things up a bit by having a China man laying underneath welding up the bottom at the same time.

I cant believe building an i beam or wide flange is cheaper or better than forgeing one or is there another reason for this

Wild-assed guess here, but this looks like a ship yard. They are probably building non-standard sections on short notice.

very good quality weld, speed of operation is also high, it will consumes less electricity and gives full penetration of welds

Those are clearly I beams. Well I guess you could call them that. How one could trust this over extruded beam I would never understand

That job would suck, watching a welding machine weld all day and listen to that loud ass buzzing.

With slag like that, must be stick welding.... that's a pretty long weld. Is the machine fed a long rod with flux, or on a roll?

its submerged arc welding flux is coated on the part and a wire is fed through to the base material

Very poor camera work..Stay still for at least a second so we can see the welds

This isn't an H beam this is a girder plate

Nothing new with this, they have been welding RSJ beam sections with Submerged arc for 60 years as I know.
