This is my first attempt to build gyro-stabilized system for 2-inline-wheeled platform. I use model steam engine flywheel for the gyroscope, door hinge as steering unit and wheels from inline skates. I'm planning to add some motors for active gyro controlling, forward-backward motion and steering. At this point this thing would not stand by itself for a long period of time. I need to add an active gyro control system.
The gyroscope natural movement (swing) you see on video is the precession. By actively control the gimbal (manipulating precession), maybe I can get better stability.

Here are the main components:
Motor: Johnson 64823 (12VDC 18000 RPM)
Wheel: Flywheel from model steam engine (I bought it from here: www.bengs-modellbau.de/materia...)

    if you want to slow it down even faster without having to use your fingers then take the clip leads after you've disconnected them from the motor and connect them together (essentially short the motor terminals together). This will in effect turn the motor into a dynamic brake.

    Here is a link to a gyroscopically balanced train that had millions spent on it. Brilliant. I messed around trying to balance a scooter, but as my workshop was the spare bedroom I eventually chickened out because if the flywheel had come loose it would have crossed the room to the wall, and burnt it's way through the floor till it got to the kitchen, and my missus would have had a field day! Good fun though. I used steel as it is plenty strong enough. www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Gyro_Monorail

    There was a legit car made in like, the 60s or 70s, that used a gyroscope to do this (two wheel gyroscope stabilized car) the company went bankrupt before perfecting it and ever since then it's been in a retro car museum. It's old tech that could've revolutionized recent year car tech. edit: it's called the gyro-x and it uses 2 trainer wheels or something to keep the car balanced when the gyroscope is turned off and when it's on, the small wheels retract so it's only the two main wheels on the vehicle.

    🤔 I think you'll find that back in the 1950s and 60s this was already tried - it didn't get very far commercially, but the basic principles are applied to balancing gyros for small yachts so they don't sway as much in turbulent seas.. Attitude control gyros are also used in satellites and on the ISS..

    Hey there, one question. if you would lock the rotation of the flywheel, would the bike fall like if there would be no flywheel, or would it do something strange like fall slowly???

    fall like there is no flywheel.. btw there actually was a car built on this concept wayyy back in 1967. linke belwo kzread.info/dash/bejne/lY6a0rl9YJOun8Y.html

    what should be the rpm of motor? and what are the calculations required

  • @OkkiMoeljadi

    @OkkiMoeljadi

    I think there is no fix RPM for this. The higher the RPM the better. You will get more stability if you use high RPM. I did not do any calculation for this, I did this by trial and error.

    It is just press-fit. Drill a tight hole at the center of the wheel and press the rotor shaft in it.

    Dirivative will continue in conjuction with both PID and for the same programmes (which stabalize drones) it should far easier to get resolve. The motor cant run full all the time. Its cool

    You should use a brushless motor to get higher RPM with a LiPo battery so you can mount it to the scooter thing
