Gypsy Rose Lee is delightful! She is funny, warm, and totally off the cuff. She has a wonderful report with Kitt and Kazan. I wish that the ladies had let Gyspy sing LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU all by herself. It would have been heaven to hear the actual Gypsy sing that great song. I hope that more of her shows become available.

What an amazing show. More talent on that set than you will ever see today - except perhaps on a Broadway stage. Eartha Kitt oozes sex appeal just sitting, and Lainie is in top form. The only person missing is Chita Rivera. Love your content!

My favorite watching Gypsy Rose Lee show was when she brought things on to share. She was always so excited but they never worked out. hahahahah And then bringing on her Chinese Crested Dogs. I absolutely fell in love with them and did wind up having some beautiful Crested Dogs. She is one person I would have loved to meet in person and hang out with.

This showed up in my recommends and I'm so glad it did. It's absolutely charming, of a time gone by. Gypse Rose Lee was so lovely to Eartha and Lainie and what a beautiful voice Lainie had WOW. Remember when different people would come together and be civilied and welcoming and gracious to each other? Well this is an example.

Thanks for posting another rare gem, Alan! Kitt was still coquettish when Gypsy's show was taped in 1967; hard to imagine then she'd become so fierce in her later years.

Lainie was a bombshell with a great voice. Very Streisand-esque; she was Barbra's understudy for Funny Girl but not sure if she ever got to play it.

Only once, when Streisand was off with a throat infection. Lainie alerted all the critics that she was going on - which she was expressly told not to do. She was fired the next day, so she never went on again. And Streisand was never off sick again either - until London when she had morning sickness with her pregnancy,

She would have to work on the voice, but she certainly has the sensuality to do it. Personally i would cast Andra Day. After seeing her play Billie Holiday I think she could do it.

Why is this show not available on streaming or DVD? Dinah, Rosie, Ellen, and--yes--even Oprah could have taken lessons. Come on, Erik Preminger [her son] or whoever owns the rights, be a sport.
