Hi from Thailand. We have the similar style of cages still used today to keep song birds. They can be very expensive if made from teak and depending on the quality and quantity of the carving. Instead of metal cage bars we use wooden thin bamboo strands or wooden doweling. My family are moving to the UK soon to live on a narrow boat. I plan to keep a canary or goldfinch as a pet, and would love a wooden cage like that rather than the ugly plastic ones sold in pet shops.

The name Peter Miller rings a bell. I'm sure I've heard that name a few times before... I have a few old bicycle wheels that I was going to chuck away I never thought of the idea of using the spokes to make a bird cage. I want to build a Victorian bird cage but on a larger scale and I was going to use wire mesh but bike spokes would look much nicer. I will probably need more bike wheels.

very nice, loved the video. Thanks for doing this one for me. I used to build bird cages when I was younger. As well I have built a few more recent and made traps out of them. I had a big ol' crow for a while but let him go, didn't seem nice to keep him caged up. used old wire hangers to make a few of them. seeing them made me want to make a few more and now watching this video has really got me to wanting to do it again. Yes, your catching cage is the same concept I have used to make trap cages as well, just a tad bit larger. They work really well.

i've made quite a few of these over the years, used to use different woods like oak or maple. even make the brass drinkers that sit in the outside for the birds to drink from.

The only thing I noticed was it looked a bit "wavy" at times. Not sure if it was the video, or maybe my connection out here in the sticks. Sometimes it takes several attempts on my end to watch a video all the way til the end.

Thank you for letting me know, I ended up formatting the card, plus my PC had just downloaded some updates, and the PC should have been restarted for the updates to take effect.
