Welcome to Ultimate Karate, in today's lesson we are exploring Gyaku Zuki for Kumite. My name is Jason Leung, I am a 4th Dan in Shotokan Karate, and I'm excited to share my journey with you all!

Gyaku Zuki or reverse punch is not a only an all time classic technique in Karate, but all combat sports themselves. Gyaku Zuki is equivalent to the Right Cross in major combat sports like Boxing or Kickboxing. It has the ability to finish the fight and subdue ones opponent. In this video I explain how you should utilize your whole body to make sure you develop and execute a powerful Gyaku Zuki. Enjoy the video, Oss!

You explained this perfectly. When practicing Gaku on a partner with a bag no matter how heavy they are I am always able to move them back a few feet after contact.

I just had a test on Sunday and I had to do kumite too but it was my first time and I was kinda scared. And I didn't knew any combinations but because of you used the 10 combos for kumite video I actually passed. Thx sooo much sensei. Oss

can you do a video demonstrating 'yubi jabu' (finger jab) countered from an upper by-side elbow block?? I want to see if my method for countering a punch to the face left/right side or central by intercepting with an elbow (block) into a finger jab/strike (counter) to the face would work. (practicality and effectiveness) ps keep up the good work your vids are really informative. :)
I don't like karate shotoken but I play karate shotoken because this karate shotoken found in my country Egypt and not found another syle

🔥🔥🔥...sometimes I'm hesitant to use this technique simply because the moment you turn your body is an opportunity for your opponent to strike. This is the number 1 scoring technique in karate kumite though...i need to trust in myself that I land it before my opponent has opportunity to strike...thanks for the videos Sensei Jkilla! 🥋💪🏾

Sensei i was writing shotkan karate weak in my comments and i don't like it because i want to learn a lot of shotokan from a master like you from karate country In the end, I would say that the popularity of kung fu in Egypt has increased because the parents of any child who see kung fu as weapons only break stones and perform gymnastic movements. As for the Karate instructors, most of them are satisfied with the old Shotokan Karate and are not looking for anything new in the development of Shotkan Karate. I am that empty hand in front of one helpful person. Weapons should be used in front of many people
