It's with a huge sense of irony that double decker buses can seen driving in the valleys in this old video as such buses prompted local authorities to smash down many beautiful railway bridges over roads because of their relatively low height. Now that the bridges and tracks are gone, so have double decker buses, I wonder why they were on the roads in the first place.

Another lovely little film from the ?early Sixties? I am old enough to remember Hafodyrynys Colliery but the line westwards had gone years before I was born. Some places are easily recognisable, Tredegar Junction Pub, Catholic church in Newbridge and Clarence Street in Pontypool (today it's where the speed camera van parks up). Not really sure of the route from Tredegar Junction to Crumlin though. Pontypool Road once had a decent station building by the look of it, who in their right mind thought a bus shelter would be better?Read more
