I think the camera movement was because the actors were improvising most of this. Obviously they meant to shoot it that way, but if it looks like the cameraman doesn't know who speaks next is because he didn't! Brilliant scene.

I like Rhys, Just a guy. Have a beer with his friends, spend the evening with his girl. Just a guy. No complexity.

You don't really notice it in the series proper because everyone's Welsh. But in Miracle day Gwen's Welsh accent really sticks out amongst all the Americans.

the weird thing, at this point there was the battle at canary warf, an ufo crashing in to big ben and aliens taking everyone of a specific blood type hostage in just the last couple years and he still dosnt belive her story

Rhys is a Welsh treasure.

Why does rhys find it difficult to believe in aliens earth has been invaded so many times during doctor whos run and very publicly. It annoys me how characters in these shows seem to forget all these events that know one would ever forget

As of this point, there had been a few several alien mentions and attacks - Auton Invasion: 5th March 2005 - Crash Into Big Ben: March 2006 - Spaceship Over London: 24th Dec 2006 - Battle of Canary Wharf: June 2007 - Christmas Star Destroys: 24th Dec 2007 And last of all, in May 2008 (their universe) time, The Master (under the alias of Harold Saxon) announced the existence of extra-terrestrials.

Mr. Scarlo To be fair you could write off about two thirds of those as domestic terrorist attacks. Cybermen and the Christmas star would be easy. Considering Harold Saxon was a nutter who assassinated the American president his word isn’t credible and the Autons could have been some kind of new military weapon that got out of control. Rhys wasn’t exactly at ground zero so the details would be highly muddled for him.

It's passed off as a Hoax. As explained at the end of "World War Three" episode in Doctor Who Season 1. The Alien spaceship that flew down crashed into big ben is an 'Alien Hoax'. "Your just not ready. Your happy to belive in something invisible, but if it's staring you in the face. Nope can't see it. Theirs a scientific explaination for that, Your thick!" - 9th Doctor.

God I love how their Welsh really comes when they're angry and shouting! 😂

At about 1:50 after Gwen says "The things I've seen..." She lets out a couple of deep exhales. She's been holding such incredible things back for a year and at the moment she finally admits it she can finally breathe again. Considering most of this was improvised, it's a natural but amazing choice.

That’s one of the things I love about this show. On its own, it works and just for a brief moment you forget it exists in the same universe as Doctor Who. I also love that Jack here is more serious and knows what the Doctor feels like when being tasked with making difficult decisions as a leader

What’s more likely They found a species of whale that looks different and can survive out of water Or an alien whale like animal appeared on earth. I mean Rhys doesn’t know about the rift so he’d assume it came to earth from space. So did the whale fly a spaceship? Rhys would have to believe that if he was gonna assume the creature he saw was an alien.

Ikr. Still, the Slitheen were called a hoax, the Cybermen could be dismissed as a military coup or something, and many people dismissed the Titanic spaceship as a hoax too. Plus the Racnoss and the Toclafane could be dismissed as the military first conning people into voting Saxon and then succeeding in assassinating Winters as part of the Saxon coup attempt. This is before DW Season 4. No other way to explain the Sycorax though. Perhaps he thought that was a one-off.

Its been years since i watched torchwood and still i come back to this scene every few months

This scene was intense when i first saw it the first time. It made me happy BBC went that route for the Whoniverse to be dark and gritty and having f bombs.

Rhys has a strong Welsh accent... probably more difficult to understand than Gwen's. he's angry and talking quickly so it can be harder to understand if it's not your first language.
