aside from what others have said, I think its also cuz they added some major mat/money sinks with the new leggy armor, so materials have started to become more valuable - like ectos n t6 dust went up, mystic coins went up etc, and metas tend to give the most unid gear for salvaging (I started to salvage all my unid gears now for all the luck n ectos I needed for obby armor, which means a lot of ppl are buying more unid gear for the same reason I salvage now.) the gold/mat sinks are really good tho, as much as ppl complain about everything and everything, these new gold sinks helps with making mats profitable again, n stuff like research notes keeps really useless stuff actually still have a use, like those low tier gems that we can now keep n make cheap jewelry for salvage, and keeps t5 mats like mithril, silk scraps, t5 trophies, the rando gem shards, it helps to keep them from becoming completely worthless. yeah research notes are a pita and I don't love them either but they do serve a purpose! and as for farms unrelated to obby armor like the ancient ambergris, it might be that ppl who used to farm ambergris stopped n went to work on their own obby armor or doing other farms that are profitable due to obby, which made the supply of ambergris lower? less farmers meaning less supply probably. just a guess

This makes a lot of sense too! With the new farms pulling people away and the amount of farms growing, it definitely makes sense that materials would get more expensive. People will still be doing fractals and raids and strikes for raw gold, but now that you need so many resources and people will want to craft all three sets of obsidian armor (I am expecting that the upgradable version that we are going to see will encourage people to finish the set) it helps to keep pulling people away from regular farms or helps inflate prices! Awesome, thank you for the insight!

I think its a kind of inflation for gold. Farming raw gold on fractals, strikes and raid is super effecient. So many players got raw gold, prices on everything is going up and its becoming more profitable to farm some resources, then doing fractals... Its like supply and demand law in action. Fishing seems to be unpopular activity so i guess anet will makes some alternatives to get those resources if gold per hour on fishing keep raising.

Easy stuff to do every day to get gold : t2 fractals dailies and recommended, takes about 30 mins, octovine if you can around same time spent, Cantha dailies (under 20 minutes) that should net 18-22 gold in 2 hours with very chill gameplay/nobrain play 😂 Yep some stuff is more efficient but if you're tired of your day and just want to relax and have fun on the game, that's usually what I would do 😂 and a bit of WvW if you have some spare time left

Bro i started farming rifts, T2/T3's, on the map that has map rewards (Frostgorge sound now, i believe it resets weekly?). I kid you not i got get showered with unstable kryptis motivations (10g each at the time) in no time. You clear these pretty fast, get those motivations + map rewards on top of that, i think i've never seen so much gold on me in such little time with literally no effort. Probably gets tedious after a while, but if you looking for quick money for no effort, just find a group and hop on.

That is a great farm! I actually did this yesterday on stream (for a short while when I had a group) I will definitely try to add this to my rotation of farming!

Octovine giving 5 gold an hour? Seems about right. That not only paid for my Griffon but LWS4 as well. BUT you'd better invest in Home Instance Node for Aurillium Ore, make sure you have the Mastery to buy Exalted Keys and be willing to activate 2 Pylons each run for maximum chest numbers in the vaults before haring off to loot all the activated Pylon chests. And have good Magic Find. My Reaper got an Ascended Power Greatsword once. Still waiting for my Liquid Aurillium. But 5 - 6 gold a run is not bad.

Yeah its definitely not bad at all! I enjoy the meta too, which makes it easier to want to jump in and farm it! Grats on the greatsword and best of luck on the aurillium haha, I have been hoping for one too, but no luck yet haha

Octovine is definitely the easiest fun meta event to do for quick profit. Just gather up 20 mins before Octo, help a bit before, do Octo and chests take like 7 minutes with mounts to gather all of them to the end.

@TheAniki94 oh yeah! And it's nice to do as part of the HOT rotation, or at least right after the Chak Gerent! I'm still convinced I can get an infusion if I keep doing it😂

Fishing in Kourna Daytime has definitely been profitable. If I managed to finish the avid desert fisher achievement and got lucky with RNG. I have netted 52 gold in one day cycle of fishing.
