Hopefeully you didnt get confused. BTS debuted with the same members there are now. But when Bang PD (BigHit CEO) was bringing in people to form BTS, he started off with a different line of people. Initially, BTS was suppose to be an all hip hop group, rappers I guess, but as time went on (during their training years), a few members left and Bang PD started bringing in singers. BTS still debuted as a hip hop group, but as time went on that changed as well. If you listen to their early work or look at their earlier MVs you can see for yourself the complete contrast from then and now. By the way, the song you heard with Supreme Boi is Cypher 3. BTS has a total of 4 Cyphers and they're done by only the rap line. The vocal line also have a few songs of their own :) Also, that interview that you saw of B-Free talking shit to Namjoon, Yoongi (and bts in general), is what gave us Cypher 2. While they couldn't openly talk shit to B-Free because it'll look bad on them, they decided to write a diss track 😏 You should give those a listen. In case you're confused about the whole speaking formal and informal. In Korea they have different levels of speech. Formal you can see as speaking politely, usually done to those who are older than you, higher social status, or just people you don't know as well. While speaking informally could be done if two people are close, if talking to someone younger than you, things of that the sort. It's hard to explain but I know other places do this too, like in Japan. In Mexico it's sort of like saying "tú" or "usted". My grandma & older relatives would give me a good scolding when I used to address them by "tú", talking about respect and being older and stuff like that 😂 By the way, RM is one of the older members. The hyung line (older to youngest): Seokjin (Jin), Yoongi (Suga), Hoseok (J-Hope), Namjoon (RM). The maknae line is: Jimin, Taehyung (V), & Jungkook 😊

lol when they did the stuff like j hope and namjoon feeding each other strawberries and when jin told namjoon to stay still and made him hug him it was because the staff gave them missions they had to complete without saying what their mission is... (i.e. "get 3 members to say thank you to you" or something) its a game where they pick what they have to do out of a hat and you fail your mission if you can't get the other person/people to cooperate lol

The song playing at the beginning of the video when they were dancing at the park was called, "Best of Me." This is the song they did a collaboration on with The Chainsmokers. It's the reason The Chainsmokers were the ones to announce their AMA's performance. :)

Liked it before it even started cause I'm so excited to see you guys learn about my bias ^__^ 2:50 So, neither Suga or JHope were in the original line up. This performance is Cypher 3, which came out much much after BTS debut with all the same members it has today. Some like supreme boi stayed on as a producer, while some ended up in other kpop groups. That's why RM is the leader, even though he's not the oldest. He's the "original member".

YES! Exactly! When you said neither the hiphop side nor the Kpop idol side likes to claim them, I 100% agree. And the funny thing is, I think that's one of the main reasons why they're as popular as they are. Because they stand out. They're not stuck to one genre, they can do whatever they want and attract a wider range of people with different music tastes because of it. Ultimately the joke's on all the people who hated on/dismissed them. But at least we got Mic Drop out of it :P

Like when some members calling "hyung" to other members, it means calling his big brother. Koreans take care of their behavior towards people who's older than them even though there's only one year difference with it, so they have to call "hyung". That was a call between men, but if the woman is younger they have to call "oppa" for their big brother If the younger are the men and the older are the women they will call her "noona". If a woman wants to call her big sister, they have to call "unnie" (like "jisoo uniie", "jennie unnie", etc.) . but this is only used if they know each other. (I'm bot good in english, sorry..😅😅)

That video of B-free always makes me cringe. If you guys didn't understand why bts were getting targeted like that, it's basically about the whole "Idol" rapper and underground rapper stigmatism. There are people, like the few you saw in that clip that don't see Idol rappers as "real" rappers because of the industry they are in. To give you a general idea, underground rappers who become idol rappers are sometimes looked down upon by other underground rappers because they see it as betraying the genre. Many people also believe that underground rappers are better and more "real" than idol rappers simply for the fact that underground rappers stay underground. It's a whole thing you can search on google, put it's not pretty, and you'd probably get a little irritated especially if you're looking for it as a kpop fan. But Generally in the industry, you get to pick what position you want to be i.e rapper or vocalist and train for it. But there are times when people who were originally vocalists get switched to being a rapper instead, like what happened with jhope and v. That's where some part of the argument of "idol rappers" come from. Some underground rappers and kpop critics like to tunnel vision on that stuff and claim that idol rappers only rap because their company/label told them to. Hence why they're not "real rappers." It also goes into the whole argument that idols in general only do it for the popularity. The whole idol image was pretty rough back then too, there was also a lot of stereotyping, there is still some even now, though not as much anymore. But in the same clip (I don't think the video creator included it) they said that being an idol was basically like being gay because of makeup, clothes, just looking feminine in general, and how it's not a look the hip hop culture harbors. It's a complicated thing to explain but that's basically the jist of that clip, and as cringe/infuriating as it is, it does give you a better look on how some people used to view idols (which is still relevant today unfortunately).
