Greg Howe is in such a league above these guys. They are good but he is unique and one of the pioneers of shred fusion.

I have to agree. I think overall technique spanning multiple styles Guthrie wins but Greq for his style just sounds the most pleasant and fluid.

Greg howe inspired EVERY guitarist that wanted to get away from that neo-classical playing,.his playing was funky, fast and original and no one was doing that back in 87,...

hehehehe no. guthrie is far above howe in every single way. being a pioneer doesnt make him better at something. hindrix was a pioneer, and hes a kitten compared to the cthulhu monster that is guthrie.

Can't people just respect all these brilliant and distinguished musicians in their own right,without turning it into Guitar X factor!

Greg Howe and Guthrie Govan are the tastiest fusion players out there.

Guthrie sounds the most versatile. He melds, an all-in-to one experience. But honestly, these guys are ALL amazing jazz guitarists. FUCK YEA!!

man, nobody's here is really sweeping. Nieri's technic is an hybrid using right's hand fingers that sounds a bit like sweep. All of them are very Holdsworth's school, nobody from Gambale's school IMO.

Greg Howe all the way! Far superior creativity, tasty bluesy funky phrases, very melodic surprising lines in a powerful rhythmic contours and most important: as always very musical, interesting and fun to listen!👏🎸🎶

Greg Howe is my favourite guitarist, as he is the whole package and a super nice guy on top of it. (This one wasn't very impressive though, but pretty epic sounding actually). Guthrie Govan is almost too perfect and clean for my taste, but absolutely stellar. Andre Nieri has sensational technique to be sure, and is a new discovery for me. Really stunning. I think comparing guitarists is pointless, as it's about the music in the end. Technique is just a way to express yourself, but many of us let it rule us as opposed to us using it to create something unqiue and wonderful

I also suggest looking into Duran Naito Haruhisa, and Alex Hutchings. Both fantastic players as well.

greg howe is the leader of fusion shredder

Greg Howe's tone and phrasing feel fresh and emotional, whereas all the others sound like they're playing a succession of exercises. Guthrie is technically phenomenal, but Howe's playing always feel in the pocket.

author's choices, everyone has a feeling in others works...

Common sense to me would be the point in this video is to share 4 phenomenal guitar players.... Each are absolutely amazing and unique. Enjoy them all. Each player will touch someone's emotions differently. Stop comparing and enjoy their talents!

I didn't know about Tom and Andre, Guthrie is still my favorite but those are still nice discoveries :)

Tom Quayle man is smooth as fuck and timing is the best of this lot...Govan is an inspiration nieri is scary, Greg literally was in the frintline of this genre so he is out of comparison

No lets be honest here my friend .. I really like Greg he is an amazing player but fusion was invented in the early 70s and even before greg there were players like Larry Coryell , John Mclaughlin, AllanHoldsworth, Frank Gambale, Scott Henderson, Mike Stern, Brett Garsed, Shawn lane etc..

Economy picking... Imagine Govan if he did the same. GG alt picking is spot on but his right hand.. a lot of movement... not as bad as Zak Wilde but still...

This Andre Nieri dude is really amazing! Greg Howe has so many amazing records. He's a favorite of all serious guitar players. Greg is blown away by Daniele Gottardo, give him a listen if you haven't. Check out "Cardiology" or anything else is out of this world.
