I am from New England and know the poem "Mending Wall" by Robert Frost well. The first line is, "Something there is that doesn’t love a wall", meaning forces, some unknown, which tear walls down. The entire poem is questioning the purpose of the wall as it is repaired, and the unquestioning nature of the aphorism expressed by his neighbor as ‘Good fences make good neighbors.’.

The age of the American Empire has enabled this IMHO - a nation so great even the great unwashed are celebrated? I have friends who agree that Polar Bears should be released daily in shopping malls all across the UK to address this precarious balance. 😁

Tyrus didn't really go after Chesterton with his contribution, he instead pointed out what Chesterton was highlighting, i.e. that those destroying what they do not understand have no regard for 'wisdom' or any other 'higher power'.

Concerning the "dead audience", the topic was too painful and made them think for a change. They were looking for a "punchline" that never came. The audience did "wake up" as points were made and the gravity of the situation dawned on them and the applause was very enthusiastic.
