Funnily enough, this is a much calmer period than that just 100-300 years before, but that period was so violent and messy that there is very little surviving history.

Thank you for your awesome videos! Just a minor correction: June 6th was the day when Gustav Vasa was crowned king in Strängnäs, which is the reason for the Swedish national day being celebrated at this date. His legendary entry into Stockholm, which you mention 12:42 and incorrectly date to June 6th, was conducted around 2.5 weeks later on Midsummers day, i.e. June 24 1523. The drawings that you show, depicts this entry which took place at the today non-existing Söderport (southern gate), which was located at the position where Slussen is today.

And I think the way you sometimes stretch the words in their pronounciation fits a historian, it gives me this "back to the old times and flowery words" feeling.

@@Crafty_Spirit Haha your right. What I have learnt is that Swedish and swiss accents sound similar to some people. I have even been asked if I'm the person running the Sandroman channel.

I enjoyed the video, but the maps and size of the Swedish domain left me confused. At first I thought 16th century Sweden was modern southern Swe, but then it's suddenly modern Swe and Finland, at the end if the video.

Thankyou for the feedback. I did not think about it when I made the video since I'm Swedish though when I look back at it I can understand the confusion. Sweden in the fifteenth and sixteenth century was encompassed by the all the land covered in blue in the final part of the video. However, the most important areas of the kingdom, and the parts that Sweden originally originated from, were what today is central and southern Sweden(with the exception of the three most southern regions of Skåne, Blekinge and Halland which belonged to Denmark). While Northern Sweden and Finland also were part of Sweden they were more sparsely populated(almost no one except Sami people lived in northern Sweden). I hope that clarify the confusion.

Sorry, you start out incorrectly, Karl, as King of Sweden, did not manage to hold the title until his death, he was exiled twice and held the title three times with breaks from 1457 to 1464 and 1465 to 1467.

I was always fascinated by how Denmark small as it is, managed to put forth a Union between itself and two other countries far larger in territory as the the dominant part, essencially rulling over these two countries. It's almost as if Wales subjugated England and Scotland and created a UK-like state in which they are the most powerful and influential country in it instead of England.

Denmark was larger in surface then, the southern parts of Sweden today belonged to Denmark. In terms of population, Denmark was probably the largest country.

Denmark was an old and united viking kingdom, plus a much richer place than Sweden. Sweden, during that time, wasn´t as big as shown in the video.🎁

All creds should go to queen Margareta for arranging this. Born in Denmark, daughter of the danish king Valdemar Atterdag, marrying the Norwegian king Håkan Magnusson that in his turn inherited the swedish (and norwegian) crown of his father Magnus Eriksson. Margareta thought all of this was silly and manipulated the lot into forming a union with the outcome that her son Olof would inherit all three crowns. Sweden later chose Swexit but Denmark-Norway remained in cahoots until 1809 when the brits split them up, granting Norway as a consolation prize to Sweden for the Napoleonic initiative to force tsar Peter to annect eastern Sweden, today's Finland. (Sweden had no idea what to do with Norway and the norwegians resisted any attempts to merge the two countries, and it all ended in 1905)
