Ichiro Fujisaki, a former ambassador to the United States, is currently a distinguished professor in Sophia University. Reflecting upon his work as a diplomat, he claims that there are three misunderstandings on the issue of globalization among Japanese people. Specifically, the misunderstandings are of English, of borders, and the belief of knowing Japan first. Fujisaki emphasizes the significance of accumulating and understanding English as to become a true international citizen.
