@@GeoBerries This song was recorded by a book, which was written in 3 BC at the latest. There are plenty of firm evidences (mostly are books) about things happened during the BC era. And this is actually a worldwide phenomenon.

Michael G This piece “Flowing Water” appeared in the Ming Dynasty Guqin manuscript《神奇秘谱》”Mysterious Secret Scores”. Zhu Quan (1378-1448), the complier of the was the 17th son of Emperor Ming Taizu (Zhu Yuanzhang), who was the Prince of Ning before the Battle (uprising) of Jingnan. After Zhu Di raised his troops, Zhu Quan supported him. After Zhu Di became emperor, in the first year of Yongle (1403), Zhu Quan was appointed to Nanchang. In order to avoid suspicion by Zhu Di, he began to focus on more recreational activities like the Guqin and then compiled the “The Mysterious Secret Scores" and other works.

自彈琴社演奏的這首流水真的很棒。 以前廣為流傳的打著鞏一先生演奏名號的流水的發燒CD，結果去年才知道原來不是鞏一先生演奏的，鞏一先生也澄清並非他彈奏，後來仔細看了很多人的評論，才知道那個錄音並非原汁原味，而是不斷的加工加味加添劑。初次聽到的很驚訝很好聽，但其實並非古琴原本的聲音。
