I'm 56 and still love Gunsmoke as I love many shows such Andy Griffith, The Waltons and even shows in other genres like Banacek (my favorite mystery of the week show). Rest in Peace Mr. Arness.

I loved Gunsmoke! Still do. Have been watching everyday when I can. Brings back memories of when I was a little girl and watching the show with my grandparents. Sweet memories ❤❤❤. Thank you Mr. James Arness and crew for the wonderful stories you gave us every week.

I sure enjoy Gunsmoke, especially the black and white episodes. I've watched every show a dozen times or more, and just keep watching. One of the virtues of being retired and sitting in my recliner all day. All those characters have become like an extended family. Mike in Oregon

Very nice excerpt from that interview! So glad I grew up with heros like Mr. Arness, Clint Walker, Chuck Conners; the Cartwrights, the Barkleys, the Lancers and the Sonnetts, just too name a few! Hope I still have some of those lessons in me as we face these trying times in our country and world! Blsgs, gg

They air on Pluto and Philo (online) and on MeTV, TVland, and somewhere else, it's slipped my mind. I'd put the episodes up but I think CBS would frown upon that :)

My uncle Earl was with him in Anzio. James made it back, and my uncle didn't. It was reported that the army used James to determine how deep the water was. I was fortunate enough to visit Anzio and my uncles grave in the 1980s. It's a very beautiful cemetery.

Gunsmoke was the best of all the TV westerns, and the early B&W 30 minute episodes were the best of the best. The entire cast was an example of perfection in casting.

0:53)He outdrew people with shorter barrel pistols. His .45 Caliber.1873 Colt Cavalry Model was 7.5 inches. The .45 Cal 1873 Colt Sheriffs' Model P(eacemaker) is 4.75 inches. James brother, Peter, changed his last name to Graves. It would have been a great "Gun Smoke" movie with them playing brothers wearing Federal tin. I saw a WW II picture of them with their father. His walking scenes were filmed first before his leg wound acted up.
