    Guns & Roses with the original lineup is one of the best rock bands of all time. Their first effort "Appetite for Destruction" is definitely one of the best rock albums of all time. Every song on it is great. And although this song didn't get much radio play in my area it is definitely a great song and captures the essence of the band. Their will never be another G&R. Relish the memories...

    You can believe whatever you want but that's me up onstage at 2:39 of the video. I was 17 years old and got kicked out of drug rehab a month earlier just before Christmas. I was an out of control teenager and loved this album from the first week or two it was released. I definitely wanted to jump up onstage because MTV was filming and I knew this moment would be documented for the rest of time. For the record, I'm 53 now and will be going to see GNR again on August 15, 2023 at the Meadowlands. Yes of course I still LOVE GUNS N FN ROSES.

Those songs were never of been written unless they were stoned or drunk. Think about it. Don’t do drugs kids bc one day you will be rock stars doing millions, just don’t listen to Mr. Brownstone. @@renatohebeja2665 I love Axl, but he was not sober all the time. Total misconception. He didn't completely stop doing drugs for a while, maybe 89, but more like 90. During 88 he was still doing drugs. He might not have done them as much as the rest of the guys but that is because he realized it was too hard to dance and sing and run around the stage high, etc. He just couldn't party like the rest of them and get up there and do what he needed. Go back and watch one of their shows in ... 90 or 91 and at that one you can see they are all totally wasted. Even Axl. And even if he didn't go back to doing drugs, he still drank some. He even admitted that he used to do drugs and pretty much said he had done just about everything at one time or another. Thankfully he stopped when he did though. And he's still with us today because of that. Good for him.

    I saw them in 1988 opening for Aerosmith at Pine Knob, Mi. They had about 1/3 the gear but they blew Aerosmith off the stage like a leaf in a hurricane. Absolutely electrifying! One of the best live performances I have ever seen. Flawless! (Poor Aerosmith. They had just reformed and were getting into shape after a long hiatus that included extensive drug rehab. They were just awful, but most everybody in the crowd was classy and stayed for a few songs out of respect.)

  • @eastcoastmonkey

    @eastcoastmonkey

    9 ай бұрын

    I heard that was a great show. Funny you said that cause Izzy once commented that he used to go out and watch Aerosmith perform during that tour and he was blown with how phenomenal they were - really tight. He said when he watched them, he thought, 'We've got to get our shit together to get as tight as them.' Yet, it didn't really matter, because GNR were bringing in more fans and outselling Aerosmith in merch, lol. Then they used them for Rolling Stones when they were supposed to use Aerosmith, lol. Guns just had that energy and generated so much excitement that it didn't really matter how tight they were. I guess they just had that raw, genuine sound. They oozed sex, drugs, and rock n roll. And what's even worse about that tour is that their manager took the first offer that Aerosmith gave them. You never take the first offer. Ever. And he did. And it was peanuts. They were still sometimes borrowing money back then. When GNR started to bring in more fans and it was obvious people were coming to see them, he didn't even try to renegotiate later on. Aerosmith knew they were basically being taking advantage of. GNR were keeping their old suitcases together with gaffers' tape and twine. Aerosmith felt bad for them, so at the end of the tour they bought them all Halliburton luggage. Which was the least they could do, lol.

    I saw them open for Aerosmith too in Long Beach. It was the most dangerous concert I have ever been to with the exception of the Amnesty tour. We had lawn seats and because I looked innocent, all 12 joints were with me. My brother got me over the fence and I lost my Wolfpack. There were 9 of us but after I got over the fence, I didn't see any of my pack until Aerosmith came on. So, I'm slowly making my way down to orchestra when Axl takes off his pants and he's wearing white boxer shorts with red apples on them. He then tells the crowd to come on down. I looked behind me and a wave of people were coming. I thought for sure I was going to be seriously injured or trampled to death. At the same time a girl was trying to steal the t-shirt I bought that I had wrapped around my waist. By this time I had smoked 4 joints and I punched this girl and blood came gushing out of her nose. I felt bad. But her friends and her chased me almost to orchestra. I finally make it to orchestra and who do I find? My brother. He had a black eye. I did see them at the Whiskey 4 times right before they shot to fame. But this concert was different. It was a small stadium, maybe the size of Irvine Meadows. The last time I saw them was 2 years later in LA. I forget where but they didn't come on stage until midnight. After that I vowed never to waste my money. Once Izzy left, I was done. Although I will say that Appetite for Destruction is probably the best rock album of my generation. Thank God Nirvana arrived and shut all those other hair bands down for good. All except for Guns. They were exceptional.

    What a fucking song! I saw that “Live at the Roxy” show video and knew this was a momentous band. A radical new sound that somehow felt comfortable. Something you always wanted but didn’t know you needed. Desperately. These guys are legend. Too bad they couldn’t have done more. Thankful for the sounds and the memories.
