If you can legally own firearms, aquire as many rifles and shotguns you can afford for home defense. Pistols are for personal defense when carrying a long gun isn't practical.

Was the 2nd amendment also tied to the Haitian Revolution which began in August of 1791. The second amendment was ratified in December of 1791. The southern slave owners were terrified of what was going on in Haiti especially since a lot of Haitian slave owners were leaving Haiti and coming to the United States with their slaves. The slaves that saw what other slaves in Haiti were actually doing.

I've been around guns all of my life. I was drafted into the army, did thirteen months in South Vietnam. I learned a lot from the Vietnamese (Viet Cong and NVA Regulars). Regardless of how much they endured they would not surrender. They would fight back to their last bullet. I now live in the deep American south. The first thing I did when I was transferred here was arming myself and my family. After all, the American south (to me any land below the Canadian border is the American south) has a sordid history of it's treatment of black people (read the book One Hundred Years Of Lynchings). I've trained my entire family how to shoot handguns and long rifles. We will not be victimized by the savages. I really don't care about the Second Amendment bullshit, I am always going to have a stash of weapons hidden away just in case I need them. I learned that during my time in Vietnam.
