I was around 10 years of age when family trips to the Gunnison River, about 1965. This was before the Blue Mesa. We stayed in an old one room cabin, next to river off an old railroad bed like a work camp. A big rock on a bend of the river, with a cable ferry to cross the river. The fishing was phenomenal. this is now ALL gone under the water of the Blue Mesa. I wish I could remember more of the beautiful place. Thank you for a trip down memory lane, stay safe
The Black Canyon, you just passed, is the Grand Canyon of Colo., it is simply breathtaking.. ! One mile down, sun doesnt reach it... hence the name... best attraction in.Colo.... at least put on Bucket list, Hutch
Not one American is a thousand could live as the Pioneers lived ! We are too soft....
Gunnison Colorado, Too Cool For School, Thanks, RVerTV Russ👍
Thank you Russ 🙏🏻 I haven’t been well enough to travel/camp this year and your beautifully filmed videos really fill that void right now 😊 Do you leave your cameras up all the time? I would be nervous someone would steal them. PS that Gunnison mural was really nice 👍
It's 62° here in Hayward Calif. Its12:30p.m. the ocean sends us cool air most of the time. 👍
That was A Great Video & That Museum Was WORLD CLASS
THANKS!

You're welcome!
That corner with the Horse and Deer reminds me of the Winslow AZ. corner.

Yay!
Was up that way back in May. Snow on the ground and beautiful country
Perhaps the most beautiful mural ( Gunnison Town . ) I have ever seen 😮 thank you
Wonderful traveling with you .
My first 6 years of life. Gunnison Colorado. Love that area.
Always fun going to Gunnison. Fished at Blue Mesa lake every summer years ago.
Russ, thanks a bunch for introducing me to America!! I grew up in the Projects of the South Bronx and have never seen the places you have shown me over the years. After watching all those Beer Steins at the Gunnison Museum, I had to go to the fridge and twist off the tab of my 40 ounce bottle of Colt 45 Beer and have a few glasses with some Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese and Pepper Jack Cheese. What an inspiring Gunnison Museum that was!! Be well, Mr. Russ. And thanks again. Victor in Quincy, Ma.
🕊️ Beautiful Views Traveling with Russ RVerTV ⛰️🚐 Thank You!🌹Great History
Thanks for Sharing!
The traffic today is so much heavier than when I was a kid in the 70s. Most of the roads here and through the mountains are for 70s traffic. Seeing them being widened makes me happy.

I can understand not blasting the side of the mountain and destroying scenic value but there is barely enough room for a jogger, the white line, the trucker trailer, and the semi going the other way in most places. Something's got to be done about that.

About 2 weeks ago by Durango friend got his mirror clipped from a car coming the other way. I hope the state pays its road workers and traffic engineers well. Working through the mountains is a lot of work. It's dangerous working on foot in traffic.
Spent the last few days a Pa Co Chu Puk Colorado State Campground in Ridgway , Russ .Revisited Gunnison Park Thursday . Sorry we missed you. Heading for Grand Mesa tomorrow , Friday.
Hi Russ, thank you for taking this trip. My husband and I live in Delta, CO just north of Montrose. Come see us. You can drive across the dam at Blue Mesa Reservoir and go to Crawford, CO to Hwy 92 and miss the road construction. It's a beautiful drive. I was second generation born and raised in Montrose. I have family in Gunnison. Please come to Delta:)
Great job mr. Russ👍, the museum had more stuff in it than the town😂 be safe✌
I had no idea that Gunnison was a town of museums! Wow! I’ll have to “Check it out!” Thanks!
Pictures excellent. Love back door view s 🙂
Real good morning brother Russell on that million-dollar highway I got dizzy but it was a fun ride thank you God bless brother
Stayed in same KOA in Montrose on my way to Black Canyon, Gunnison, the pass to the east. Nice ride, indeed.
Love Gunnison ❤️ rafted down the Colorado River by there. What a ride it was ❤️
Wow, between the mural and the museum, what a nice little town.A good way to end the video with the beautiful river.I really enjoyed this video. Safe travels, Russ.
I just want you say.I love your vids.they always bring a smile to my face. They are very well done.Thank you for sharing with us.I look forward to your next one..❤❤❤
We took the dam road when we went through due to the road work we had to. It was phenomenal, highlight of the trip that drive. View at the top simply incredible.
Colorado is beautiful
Another fantastic video of your Colorado trip. My aunt and uncle lived in Gunnison years ago and it was his favorite place in Colorado. Now I know why he thought that way. I remember him talking about the museum and the small town atmosphere. You did a fine job putting this together. Thanks Russ! Safe driving and good health!
Hello Russ 👋
Russ, we love your rear view camera’s. Really adds another dimension
The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is amazing. 😊 Great trip, Russ. Thanks
That Gunnison mural looked like a 3d, beautiful!!
Thanks for the video. Awesome. Gorgeous scenery. Safe travels!!!!
Wonderful visit to the Gunnison Museum. Wow they had just about everything a person could think of in that museum. Thank you for inviting your viewers along on the trip. Take care.
Awesome ❤
You need to check the Pioneer Museum in Minden Nebraska. Its huge and awesome.
Absolutely love the back camera view
Good stuff brother! The lake at Gunnison freezes during the winter for ice fishing.
LOL Can't sit that long .... unless your moving!!! My last time in a movie theater was for "the Falcon and the Snowman" 1985!
Loved Montrose. We stayed at the same KOA . Black canyon of the Gunnison. Close to Your-ray ( not oo- ray). Highway 50 is a gorgeous ride to cross the rockies. Monarch Pass. Safe travels russ
Really nice video. Beautiful drive, great museum. 🙂👍
Beautiful! thank you.👍👍😳🤗 Yes, the pioneer museum seems well worth $12. be safe.
Incredibly beautiful country!
I was exhausted RIDING that million dollar highway with you! :)
Living the dream, Russ! Thanks for the awesome tours!
Bunch of cool little western towns - google maps along hwys 92/132 at the blue mesa reservoir. Had no idea so many towns were hidden away up there. Very cool museum complex in video. I'd need a few hours for that one. Cheers - 👍
Wonderful scenic video Russ, and that treasure of a museum. The squeaky floor (42) did it for me... and the old cars too ... definitely took a step back in time.
Nice ride along. Thanks for sharing. Love blue Mesa lake and Gunnison was a neat town and the bldgs packed with history that was just amazing. Safe travels.
Wow Russ! This was one of your best videos! I loved Blue Mesa Lake and Gunnison Pioneer Museum! That museum was the best I’ve ever seen! That was truly one for the memory books is! Thank you so much!!!❤️😀🚙🤚🏿
Step on the gas ⛽️ 😎 RUSS and let's go 😊
Another great day of a amazing adventure, awesome
Great job as always Russ! Travel safe sir 👍
wow! what a cool museum to visit. Thanks for sharing Russ.
Maps and Arial views > Nice > Thanks for adding them to your videos! 🗺🌎🗺 > They make a huge difference! New subscriber.... because of this.
Well done, thank hanks Russ⭐️😎
Beautiful museum, Russ, you could never have something like that in a big city they would steal things, damage them, or graffiti them. Thanks, for another great tour, Mike
Love this video! Thanks for taking us along! ❤❤
Another fine installment. It looks like you could spend a couple of days at that museum and not see it all. Thanks for sharing your travels with us.
According to Wikipedia, they started construction of the dam in 1962, and it opened in 1966. It's 390 feet tall, and 785 feet wide. They had to relocate a cemetery to build it.
Great content! My dad introduced me to your channel after I told him about one I'm going to be starting soon and how our content could overlap. Keep it coming!
Highway 50 improvements are due to the infrastructure plan and some of that area really needed it. Drove through there a few weeks ago and it wasn't on a Sunday and we had to wait an hour and a half since everything was down to one lane.
Beautiful river Beautiful museum thanks Russ
I can't believe you missed the National Park on such a short drive day, best area there
The West Elk is a stunning drive. My Buick sedan made the drive just fine - I don't remember any dirt roads. Great camping too. You missed seeing the canyon - incredible. Worth a trip on its own.
That rear camera is fantastic! Sometimes I think your driving backwards.
Good timing, looking to do some hiking in black canyon in the near future. Nice preview.
Blue Mesa reservoir, largest body of water in Colorado.
On the Bucket List !
Absolutely beautiful drive!
Russ passed the Gunnison Black Canyon, absolutely a Must See and free for him.
Hi russ thanks for a great video i love the old town so many amazing places id never see other wise . Cheers mate🇦🇺
Hi Russ , thank you for sharing. God Bless ! 🙏
Beautiful architecture!! ❤❤
The one building you were in with the pictures with the men in their hats, it kind of reminds me of a skull and bones photo . they should update that picture. A lot of our past presidents are skull and bones. wow this one was really full of a lot of history wasn’t it?🤔 Thank you for taking me on this journey. It’s been really the best one of my life.❤❤❤❤💥

thank you Keena
This was delightful! We have driven from Dolores to Taylor Park through Montrose and Gunnison many times and oh, my, how that town has grown! The airport supports large jets year round. We moved to Colorado 28 years ago and before that had flown from Corpus Christi, TX to go skiing at Crested Butte. We loved the area but decided on an area that didn’t get so cold during the winter…..until last winter😂…we had non-stop snow for 3 months! I hope you can continue down the Million Dollar Highway to visit Telluride and Dolores on your way back to Arizona. Happy Trails to you!
Thanks!
Must be a good restaurant to have people waiting! Hope you were able to try it!!😊
Good stuff MrRuss, lovin the rear view cam👍😎 Pioneer Museum, wonderful👍
That was a lot of road work. Hope you don't get into much more construction on the rest of your journey
I love the video russ thanks for sharing I like your humor safe travels ❤
This trip is amazing the lake museum well job done p thanks for letting us tag along
We're camped near Gunnison, but I had no idea that they had such a nice museum. We'll have to see it before we leave. Thanks for the video.
We are staying in the Montrose/ Gunnison area right now
Great video, Russ. Thank YOU! So fun to watch, yet relaxing. 👍
I drove this back in 2016 with my wife and son, was so tense from driving and watching the road that I really didn’t get to see as much as I wanted. Thank you for sharing your video with us and letting us relive the trip again!! Great job!!
That bronze sculpture at the beginning of the cowboy trying to rope a mule deer looks similar to one in front of the Cabela's on I-35W north of Fort Worth, TX! These are stupendous videos! Been down through Montrose many times over the years headed south over the Million Dollar Highway or east through Gunnison over Monarch or North Cochetopa Pass. You'll just have to go over Lizardhead Pass out of Cortez Colorado someday. That's a very beautiful drive, especially in October! We hit that same construction last September going east to Gunnison. If we had known it was there, we would have gone another route. It was a MESS!
My youngest daughter and I drove Hwy 50 and 160 seventeen years ago when we went cross country. It has grown since then but the scenery is still just as beautiful. We stopped along the Gunnison river and the thing I remember best was how wonderful the sage smelt.
Thanks for a vicarious re-visit to Gunnison and the drive along 50! Good memories of that part of Colorado. Enjoyed the drone footage.
Thanks Russ. Montrose is my town for now. I have stayed at that KOA in a cabin and was fun. Gunnison is a great place to visit especially the Pioneer Museum. I've never been to that museum but have traveled to Gunnison and on up to Crested Butte from there. Beautiful country. Actually the water at Blue Mesa got very low a few years ago but has started filling up some. The river that runs through Montrose, Uncompahgre actually empties into the Gunnison River in Delta CO north of Montrose and then joins the Colorado in Grand Junction. Nice drive except for the construction that's been going on for probably two years. Hopefully one day it will be done.
SO pumped up with your New Mexico and Colorado road trip videos. Epic! 🎉👍🌞
Another awesome video thank you
Great tour...Thanks.
Enjoying your adventures. Learning lots and love the scenic byways. You see so much more traveling the backroads. Less traffic the better I like it.
Oh cool! At @42:07 there's an old metal Bread and Biscuit box. Bread on top and Biscuits on bottom! I have one similar to that one and it's the greatest keeper for them ever! Love the China sets in the next building, but dolls in that era gives me the heebeejeeby creeps. LOL
We just got home from Zion/Moab trip. Stopped in Grand Jct CO on our way home. Beautiful little spot. Safe travels.
