Glad to see you give Urias some love. Something that might get lost in the shuffle with Gunnar’s grand slam is that the lineup never turns back to over to Gunnar if not for Urias and McCann’s good ABs. The O’s were looking like they were going to come up empty on the early threat before Urias snatched the momentum back lacing that two out single back up the middle.

You thought, after last year, Stowers was "a quick call-up guy and would never have a role." Usually I find your analysis extremely insightful, but you lost me on this one. Stowers was injured twice in 2023, but upon recovery, he had a terrific spring training. I hope the O's see his value.

Cowser needs to sit for a few games. He's been terrible for almost a month after a blazing April. He's hitting .200 with an OPS less than .600. Jason La Canfora of 105.7 The Fan has been reminding his listeners daily of how bad he has been and wondering why he's in the lineup everyday. I watched the first 6 innings of the Yanks/Angels game last night and it was another dominant performance by Louis Gil. It seemed like half the pitches he threw were high 97, 98 mph 4-seamers. He ended up striking out 9 in 8 innings but only threw 95 pitches, 67 of them strikes. He's 7-1 for the season with 1.99 ERA. There's no reason why GRod can't be as good as Gil is right now. But for some explicable reason they have him throwing too many off-speed pitches instead of challenging hitters with the high gas. Not only is that stupid, it also drives up the pitch counts so it makes absolutely no sense. Quite frankly I don't think Gerrit Cole or anyone else would be doing any better than Gil is right now.

@@LockedOnOrioles l don't agree with everything he says but it's hard to argue with Cowser's numbers this month. Him playing everyday is bad enough, what exactly has he done to justify hitting clean-up the last two games? It's not like he has a couple seasons of a track record in the big league, is it?
