Gunblade NY (Wii) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Sega's 2010 light gun shooter for the Nintendo Wii, Gunblade NY. Released as part of the compilation "Gunblade NY & L.A. Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack".
Played through on the default difficulty settings. I play through both the Easy and the Hard courses - the Hard course begins at 12:38.
What a great pair of arcade shooters - this was well worth the $30 asking price when it was first released. The Wii controller is the perfect fit for both of them. Gunblade NY was originally released in the arcades in 1996 and ran on Sega's Model 2 hardware. Model 2 was a powerhouse in the mid-90s, blowing past just about any other consumer-level hardware in terms of its processing power (and costing a fortune, understandably, to do so - especially since it was driving a 50" screen like in this cabinet). Even if it looks simple by modern standards, it's blazing fast and smooth - and still looks great!

A fantastic mid-90s Sega rail shooter that never saw a home release before the Wii release - it's great to see such a good game finally be made available to the masses.

Sadly, the third installment, titled as "Jet Squadron" was canceled due to L.A. Machineguns: Rage of the Machines didn't reach popularity as SEGA expected. I remember when I was a highschool freshman, I first encountered L.A. Machineguns in an arcade game center in Beijing, and I managed to blast my way to Las Vegas level before got K.O.

Oh boy, I loved playing this in the arcades years back, crazy game. The physics were wonderfully goofy, especially that boss helicopter in the hard scenario that bounces on the ground after being destroyed, but the maneuvers that helicopter got up to were so ludicrous, you would accept you were playing as one of two cops with jet packs more then two guys on mounted turrets on an advanced helicopter XD. Great playthrough!

Joey Roller well little history lesson for ya, since segas model 2 and model 3 arcade hardware were my all time favorite, sega actually thought of doing Gunblade NY as a Japanese sega Saturn exclusive, just like Sonic the fighters as well for the Saturn, but sega knew that sonic the fighters and gunblade NY sega knew that both home ports would had to have there resolution cut back significantly and the FPS would have tookin a hit as well, I would have looked exactly like virtua cop one and two where it would have looked as close to the model 2 graphics as it could but still far from being arcade perfect, THEN sega was planning on doing a Japanese sega dreamcast exclusive as well of Gunblade NY and it would have been the first model 2 port ever done on the sega dreamcast, and it would have been 99.9% arcade perfect, but sega waited to long to think about Brining it home, because by the time they were about to do it the sega dreamcast has reached its life span and wasn’t gonna sell anymore systems, and sega decided to pull the plug on it

@Adam Demeter There were Coca-Cola, Fujifilm and other brands in the original arcade version, but due to license expiration they were replaced with Sega related properties. Like the Coca-Cola ad was replaced by a Sonic and The Black Knight ad. LA Machineguns had those alterations too, with the Coke and 76 logos replaced or removed
