    this one seems like somebody had accidentally dropped it in there and it was probably just one of those guns that most gun owners have that they used to test new ammo in in case it breaks a gun they don't want broken due to the duct tape the poor condition of it and the fact that they didn't care enough to fish it out

    Suspicious. Sounds like you have found somebody's dumping ground. They steal it; use it in a crime and dump it in a river where they think nobody will find it. Keep up the good work guys.

    @@TheKinzlerBros I get that, but it's not as difficult as you think to get a form 1 to register an SBS. I would have loved to see that functional. In the future, if you run into a firearm like that, before you restore it Form 1 it. Cuz that shorty is gorgeous. Seeing it permanently disabled is so sad

    I've made firing pins identical to that one, to fit various other shotguns. It's a cinch. Give me a couple of files, hacksaw, and an electric drill for a lathe, vice, and an old bolt. Also, a propane torch for heat treating. Takes maybe 45 minutes, if that.

    I am just now completing a restoration on an old H&R 20 ga. single shot. Mine wasn't as rusty as yours but it did have some serious rust scabs on it along with some sort of glue that once held some plastic front and rear sights. The stock and forearm had several dents and scratches as it was used for hunting for many years. People usually don't take care of a single shot, they use and abuse them. I used a orbital sander on the barrel to remove the rust, then a buffing wheel and a polishing wheel. I blued the barrel which turned out very nice. and I sanded the stock and forearm until they were baby butt smooth. Re-stained (red mahogany) them and finished them with a satin finish. I must say, it turned out very nice and I'm going to keep it. I love single shot shotguns. The simplicity of them make them a cheap gun to purchase and usually there is never any thing wrong with the works of the gun, just have to make them look like new.

    As long as the length of the smooth bore barrel is at least 16" long from the edge of the chamber to the end of the muzzle, it is totally legal to not only own, but fire as well. And I have to say it looks at least that long. And if there is actual rifling inside the barrel, than any length of barrel is legal. Those are the ATF rules and laws. JMHO

    @@TheKinzlerBros I would strongly suggest you read ATF Rule 2011-4. Note, "Held,a firearm, as defined by the National Firearms Act (NFA), 26 U.S.C. 5845(a)(3), is made when unassembled parts are placed in close proximity in such a way that they: (a)Serve no useful purpose other than to make a rifle having a barrel or barrels of less than 16 inches in length(e.g., a receiver, an attachable shoulder stock, and barrel of less than 16 inches in length);" Just having the unassembled parts in close proximity is defined as a firearm. Cutting the firing pin off does not make this exempt from this rule, because it can be replaced in a mere 2 minutes. Why on earth would you risk a felony for a stupid KZread video? Throw that piece of crap back into the river like the idiot who made it.

    @@chkohl1919 you can have a shotgun with a barrel under 18 inches as long as its "not intended to be fired from the shoulder" as is the case with the Mossberg 590 shockwave. it came from the factory without a butt stock and with a 14 inch barrel making it not a shot gun or rifle. legally its a non NFA item and unregulated.

  • @chkohl1919

    @chkohl1919

    @@lev_iothon The shockwave is manufactured that way and the overall length is over 26". There's also a number of pistols that shoot 410 rounds. The difference with this firearm is that it was clearly modified. There's a big difference between a large manufacturer producing barely legal guns that push the letter of the law, and a gun that literally had a hacksaw taken to it. It's a dumb law, but it's still a felony.
