Look at the gratitude, nostalgia and fondness for those beautiful good old days on Gulzar Sahab's face! Just look at the level of involvement and commitment of everyone in the song making...No wonder they produced gems that we cherish so fondly...🎉❤

Gulzar's humbleness is to be appreciated. He gives credit to Dada Burman for bringing him from a motor garage to film industry. Gulzar's expression of working with Dada Burman for various songs incl Bandini shows how great Dada Burman was!

Nirmalkumar Phophalia Gulzar wrote only one song for Burman Dada, 'Mora gora rang lai le', sung by Lata in Bandini (1963). Rest were all by Shailendra.

Gulzar is feeling nostalgic in this.. It's lovely to see as a fan.. Great Gulzar sir!!

I thank the amateur member of the audience to bring this priceless piece of narration by Gulzar Sahib on Dada S D Burman and legendary Bimal Roy and a priceless anecdote on "Bandini", The erratic camera movement notwithstanding, at least the microphone was excellent, it has happened many times before, when innocent bystanders have unwittingly recorded history, they deserve our heartfelt gratitude and thanks, irritation notwithstanding.

@Raja Mukherjee, Thanks for generous appreciation even though the camera is being shaken by the audience next to me jostling for better space to stand and listen in the small room where the book launch was held. All the seats were taken by the audience and some of the invitees had to stand. The book was supposed to be based on my research which I handed over in volumes, but the author chose to stray away from it writing from her not so fertile imagination, how Dada or Meera would have reacted, or said. Later, I was informed by the publisher that the book didn't, which didn't surprise me a bit. The saving grace was my 10 page article, 'Afterword' on the genius S.D. Burman. I have 150 videos on KZread which I'll recommend. Thanks.

@@rajamukherjee4 U were right about the camera, not knowing that my seat in the front was taken away, while I was chatting away with Kersi Lord, Homi Mullan, UK Dubey and Amrut Rao, all great musicians who worked with both SD and RD. Thanks for encouraging words. It was my passion for SDB which made me do this marathon research, knowing well that we are creating something unique for our future generations to know truth from falsehood being spread on internet. Thanks again.

crazyoldsongs Dada S.D. Burman always took active part in picturisation of his songs, and often gave suggestions to the directors on whether a song will further promote the scene. He has written several articles, one of which is on our Hindi films and songs in them. Thanks for appreciating this upload.

The Music and so much of detailing and hardwork to give sound to every scene is just fabulous ; great to know so much and much more about S.D. Burman ; great work Moti dada in sharing all these interviews and vdos about S.D. Burman , its indeed a great research work knowing about the Burmans .

I think most part of Sachin Da's mannerism about this song situation has been already narrated by Majroooh Sahab. What I like is when Gulzar says about 'A boy in Sachin Da 's heart' That steals my heart.

@Hardeep Singh Chawla, In our interview, music director Pyarelal has said that SD Burman is a diamond and RD Burman is gold.

I am from Nepal and huge fan of SD Dada and RD Dada,,,,,,lots of nepali musician worked with them in various aspects,,,,like Bhola shrestha,,,,Ranajit Gajmer(kancha) but still I am not able to know who was the successful mugician,,,,,please answer,,, RD dada or SD dada

No. From 1958 to 1970 but initially not in all films. In all about 18 to 19 films. We have Facebook group on SDB which has knowledgeable fans and even some who worked with SDB. It has 7000 members. Why don't you join it.

@Shirish Desai, I wish I could do that. The event was book launch on SD Burman. I was supposed to be in the front rows. All seats were taken away. Without making a fuss I stood in the crowd where guests were jostling for better view. However much I tried I could not keep my camera steady. I had to edit out some parts, not compromising on the important content. Thanks for comments. 🙏

I have one correction to make. Gulzar composed lyrics of only one song for Dada Burman in Bandini, Gora Gora Aang..

Hamaari bhi seat reserve honi thi lekin kisi ne le li thi. Aage mein stage aur peeche mein press ke photographs bade, bade camera lekar khade thay. Baaki do baaju teen rows deep humlog khade thay Kitni koshish ki lekin camera ko hilne se bacha nahin paaye. Kuchh samay baad hum Gulzar sahib ko unke ghar mein mile. @Atul Rocks, During the SD Burman book launch in a small hall having over 100 guests, with my front seat taken up by those whom I didn't know, a dozen or more press reporters on one side, and we standees jostling for space to have better look, it is a miracle that I could shoot this video. I had to edit the worst parts, trying to save the important ones. It's a wonder I could achieve this to reach it to fans. I am neither drunk nor mad. :) Thanks.
