High input gully erosion control methods are used to protect crucial infrastructure or production areas that are likely to be destroyed or rendered unusable if erosion occurs or worsen.
High input gully erosion control methods include diversion banks, contour banks, drop structures rock chutes, dam by wash and level banks.
Before you fix a gully or install a high input erosion control structure you need to first understand your catchment.

Good
Everybody loves ponds but ponds hold water like a cup & once their full they can't hold much additional water, so little is gained. Although the gully needs to be mitigated, instead of building a pond, a series of low crescent shaped swales up the catchment area would be more effective. The crescent swales, w/ their outlets at the tips running into the swale below them in a large fish scale pattern. The swales can be engineered with gentle slopes that would allow grazing & even cultivation. The swales would be designed to hold the same amount water as the pond but allow for better infiltration & evaporation. - plus you could still have a pond if you wanted
