Sorry Mein Lieber Friedrich I can hardly recognize my work: I would prefer your kind calling it your own improvisation - not bad perhaps, even if a bit vague and romantic if not almost blurred at times - if you did not mind, rather than playing my music. Ihr Hochachtungsvoll JoHann Sebastian, wondering your rendition of my choral bearbeitung An Wasserflussen Babylon, either with a cap on or without it.

It's the miking- this isn't a studio recording! You have no idea how grandiose and amazing the sound was in the hall (I was there). He wasn't into perfume and little silly musical effects or romantic phrasing. If there was ever a masculine composer it was Bach (as well as Beethoven) and this music suited Gulda to a T-greatest sets Beethoven Sonatas by a long shot (Argerich agreed 100%). Always Straight forward, no bs, long line and rhythmic precision. This is a live recording and the audio is a total result of poor sound engineering.
