I've listened to literally hundreds of fingerstyle players since I first heard Leo Kottke and John Fahey in 1969. There are so many talented players, but few have amazed me to degree you have. Ever since Michael Hedges came on the scene there has been a flood of two handed tappers but few with the ability to create compelling compositions. I believe you have potential that exceeds even your astounding technical abilities. I am looking forward to see how you progress. I would recommend you get in touch with Don Ross, fingerstyle genius and owner of Candy Rat Records. Look for his work on KZread. He can give you advice on how to take your music to the next level. I would love to see you get a recording contract and the wider audience your talent deserves. Please keep it up! I was all ways told that you can't play the guitar that way ,ive been into percussion and drums since i was a kid , allways played my brothers guitars like that!! Please hurry ip and come to Australia

Listened to this album for quite a while, but had never watched a video of a performance until now. Was listening yesterday and thought, wait is that a kalimba being played with the guitar? Found this video, and I am blown away. Was impressed before, now I am in awe.

This is my absolute favorite song! I love the Kalimba (we called it the thumb piano growing up) and the way you integrate it with the guitar is amazing. The harmonies and rhythms are incredible. Brava!

Quick question - I'm looking for tutorials on fingerstyle, but I'm wondering if there's a specific term for your approach of keeping the guitar horizontal. As a keyboardist, I find that particularly appealing.

Some people call it lap tapping. I've seen it done by another guitarist, Erik Mongrain.

Are you a fan of Trevor Gordon Hall from Candyrat Records? His Kalimbatar style is also impressive. Good job and keep up the good work!

Heard your NPR interview and would like to get a hard copy (Vinyl?). I think the folks at Daptone Records have been exploring a bit. After hearing another artist on NPR (Orkesta Akokan) I purchased 4 albums (different artists) for me and 3 for a friend. Great stuff and I enjoy your music.

Since I'm one of those audiophile nerds please use loss less technology in recording. Years ago there was an artist Michael Hedges who produced Aerial Boundaries. His music was used for years as an example for customers purchasing equipment because of tonal dynamic range. I think it's a good fit for your music as well. Talk to DapTone and Third Man Records to get a high fidelity pressing on Vinyl. I'll purchase your CD when it comes out and your Vinyl when available.

How is the sound created from that finger picking motion, it looks like she just presses down on it, is she picking with her nails on each string?

I'm nowhere near Yasmin's level but here's what I think it is. First she presses down, but she actually follows up by pulling off the string and giving it a little "flick" then. Almost like picking it right at the fret. Do this fast and precisely and you'll get that sound.

Christian and Ruthann are correct. I'm just playing the bass notes with my left hand thumb and using fast hammer ons and pull offs (tapping, pressing down, and releasing the strings really quickly) with my left hand while playing the kalimba and doing percussive stuff with my right hand and foot.

Thank you! I am interested in both of those things and use lots of extended techniques. I don't normally improvise in my own music yet, but probably will in the near future.

You must have 2 or more brains, surely one brain could not separate itself into so many places. There is not another guitarist on the planet who comes close to your level , honestly, there are no adjectives to describe, especially when one can hardly play a C chord cleanly.
