Michael is the main composer/ creator for the band. They did practice/ create for 4 days before Larnell arrived but the fact that he listened to the pieces on the flight over and created his patterns and rhythms is just crazy good.

5:51 He has snom as a second tom and snare. So it was deep snare and he tuned it very low and put hydraulic drumhead to it so it sound very good tom when he opens the snare, and when the snare is closed it sounds very pfat and deep snare. He also has third snare and he put cymbal on it in lingus and he got very good sound of it.

I get the expression. But how does that fit into the context of this video? What are the puppies? The drummers arms? (sounds like a great name for a pub, coincidentally) the guitarists hands? (more like an expressionist painting). I do agree though that if a puppy is sick, a vet should definitely be called.

I could easily suggest every track on this album to do a reaction to, instead I'd say buy the album it's well worth it. Bear in mind that this album was recorded live and the tracks were done in 1 or 2 takes and including rehearsals this album was recorded in 5 days, in fact apart from there first 3 and last 2 albums all their other albums have been recorded in same way, in a temporary studio in front of an invited audience. The album after We like it Here was called Sylva there's a track called the Clearing you might find interesting, be warned it's very different from the We like it Here album.

I have a feeling you watched the documentary on these sessions by now but in case not, these songs were WRITTEN after they arrived in the studio to record...there was no preparation. Oh, and by the way, you'll notice NO MUSIC STANDS! All played from memory & soul. Elite doesn't even begin to describe these musicians. Peace.

I highly recommend.... everything! But FXMLDR at Sun Lab Studios is a good one. Anchor, or Son of a Serpent, at Backroom Studios are also good. Tom Monda is one of my favorite guitarists right now.

In a seemingly endless cacophony of average, limited, and monotonous popular music, it's hard to believe that musicians this talented and this well rehearsed still exist and create truly memorable and stunningly original music. A toast to Snarky Puppy and all of the people that still seek beauty and originality in music and commit their lives to achieving it.

You can tell that about 80% of this was improvised. I think the only part that probably wasn’t was the syncopated beat that he did in the middle with the guitar. But the fact that you can follow a song like that and do all that just by improvising alone is insane but every member of this band is an amazing musician on their own but when you put them in the other magic happens and that’s exactly what this song is

Love the reactions! Mainly because I had a similar reaction to this album... WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE??? I also recommend Sleeper... some surprises on a different kind of keyboard playing, with a rubber hose. I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest another artist, but being a guitarist, you probably already know this guy named Pat Metheny. Pat can do justice to many genres and holds several Grammy records for number of Grammys from consecutive releases, he has 20 Grammys from 10 different category’s and just this week announced a new album, with a jump into the classical realm. Here’s a cut from one of the more rock inspired tunes, I think you will enjoy this and possibly many of his projects of the last 45 years. I’ve been a Pat fan for 41 years and can help guide you to some truly great music, if you want. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hHeEyK2zea6ch9I.html
