    Baba Yaga (in slavic culture) is a supernatural creature which looks like deformed, scary old woman living deep in the woods, doing black magic and crafting poison. Also some use name "Baba Yaga" as synonym to a "Witch".

    Polish lullaby text here: At Wojtuś, from an ashpan A little spark is winking Come, I'll tell you a fairy tale the fairy tale will be long. Once there was a princess who fell in love with a musician The king gave them a wedding And the fairy tale is finished. Once there was a Baba-Yaga She had a cottage made of butter And only wonders had in there... Oops, and the spark went out. At Wojtuś, from an ashpan A little spark is winking Come, I'll tell you a fairy tale the fairy tale will be long. I will never believe you again. you small spark. First you blink, then you fade, and there goes the whole fairy tale.

    Hey from Texas, Ellis! I'm a 68 y/o female who just happened to recently catch a YT video of Marcin's performance of Beethoven's 5th. I was mesmerized by the phenomenal one-guitar performance, his use of both hands simultaneously handling so much activity on the guitar & making it sound so magnificent. I am not a musician, nor do I personally know or physically follow anyone who plays professionally (although I did have 2 members of ELO play their guitars at a friend of mine's house down the street from me here in Texas, & Mickey Gilley (Jerry Lee Lewis' cousin) played my piano once. I was in junior high school & didn't really grasp how famous they were, lol, so their presence was a bit lost on me (sigh). I digress.... I have subscribed to your channel because I love your reaction to Marcin & greatly appreciate you pulling out your guitar & demonstrating, w/ explanations, what Marcin was doing w/ his fingers. You are very down to earth & seem like a really nice guy. I look forward to seeing more "reactions" from you of Marcin's other arrangements, but also of you reacting to vocalists & other musicians. Thank you!!

    Baba Yaga it's not Russian, it's in Polish. :) She is part of some fairy tales known in Poland. In Slavic folklore (previously were probably part of its mythology) is a supernatural being who appears as a deformed and / or ferocious-looking woman-witch. IMHO it's a little bit similar person as in the story by Grimm Brothers but ofc it was written much, much later than the tale stories about Baba Yaga. It's probably reason that Marcin used the forest scenery. Regards!

    Thank you for this explanation, Andy! I'm a 68 y/o from the 60's generation & a real fan of the Grimm Brothers' stories, as well as an eclectic interest in music (no talent, though, lol). I'm also not a guitarist, nor do I have anything personally to do with bands or instrumentalists, but I saw Marcin on a YT video & was fascinated, of course, by his skill level, creativity, stage presence, & his age! Also, Americans do not hear much out of the Polish communities here in the States, nor of their country (until this Ukraine-Russia war). I live in Texas & don't know that I'm aware of even meeting someone from Poland. Are you Polish?

  • @andyreasoner4054

    @andyreasoner4054

    @@MsJudi54 Yes, I'm Polish. The situation is probably due to the fact that until Solidarity and breaking down communism Poland as other Central European countries were behind "Iron curtain". Morover Polish language ofc is not so popular as English, so acces to many information, books, journals etc for Americans can be more difficult. But music is such wonderful language that it has no barriers. Best regards from Poland! :)

    Thank you for a well done reaction to Marcín playing his song Baba Yaga! I am mesmerized by his performance of this piece most of all because it just showcases his MAGICK! Baba Yaga is based on a very old Slavic folktale about a witch who can be found in the deep forest, sometimes she is an old woman, but can appear as a young woman, she can be very mean and eat you, or she may love you and give you gifts! She is depicted in Slavic fairytales as flying in a giant mortar and pestle (magic herbs and mushrooms?) Or a witch flies with a broom. The way Marcín stands and plays this song I see him absolutely FLYING with his guitar using the MAGICK of his gift! By the way the forest he is playing in here is near a famous mountain known for being home to witches. Marcín is pure MAGICK!!!
