His right hand technique comes primarily from his classical background. Truly this guy can play at the highest level everything, from prog and hard rock to fusion, Blues, Country, Jazz, Bossanova, Classical, etc. But the most interesting thing is that he has a great musical sensibility: if he wants he can play 1000 notes in a minute as a shredder but not even one is pointless. In the end, he seems to be also a very good composer: his one and latest work ("the journey") is full of inspired pieces.

Brian, as an italian (sicilian exactly , like Matteo) I am proud to see your sincere admiration for MM. You make several videos about him, and I can see passion, competence, and overall a your real interest for MM's art. His first USA tour is started. I hope you'll see him live. I can assure you that's an incredible experience. Thanks for your contribution to develope Matteo's fame in the world. He's a real artist. And a great person.

Great musician and guitarist( obvious, just hear him play) and inspires a great sympathy, because he is young and, despite the gifts he received, also very humble.

So glad you did this. I wondered if anyone would react to that segment. The one thing that stuck out to me during the interview was that he has as much, if not more, talent in his head than in his hands. His grasp of music knowledge, phrasing, etc. is impressive. He can think fast on his feet and improvise with the best of them. It’s an interesting parallel to Tim Henson. Totally different approach to the instrument. Both have enormous talent and music knowledge, but Tim really doesn’t improvise much. I think he could if he’d let go of the click track and not worry about being so precise. Matteo is probably the most amazing player I’ve seen in a long time… seems like a really nice guy too. There’s a video out there of him and his dad jamming out… really cool.

Thanks for commenting and of course you’re spot on with your thoughts about Tim Henson. I see Tim as an innovator type player who also is at the right place right time. I dig Tim, but Matteo is a guitar players player. It also helps that he plays the type of music I grew up listening to and still love.

Who was wondering that? isn't his new record all original. The amazing Jeff Beck spent his whole career re-interpreting others compositions. He definitely can and thaks for watching the comment.
