Should have never allowed "new math" into public schools in the 1960s... I find great joy in tutoring math students (gr. 3&5) since the teacher told me to "forget the book, teach it the way you know it." Multiplication and division of decimal numbers goes from, "I don't understand this!" and after five minutes, to their eyes lighting up with "I get this now!" I always encourage them to "practice this at home, too."

I flipped the Martin and Huss an Dalton! Got the Hudson though. They all sound great in my opinion

I got the Huss and Dalton right, also mixed up the Orangewood and the Martin. I now want an Orangewood. I sent one to my son, and I want him to send it to me if he isn’t going to use it.

Me toooo, the martin was so bright and direct, I normally associate that with cheaper guitars, with solid spruce tops and rosewood back and sides, and thay's probably the reason.

I just re found this comment and wanted to add Huss And Dalton is now my favorite guitar company. My best friend died in a car wreck and his main guitar was a custom Huss and Dalton. Mark Dalton had a replica made and gave it to the family for free so they could raffle it off to help with funeral expenses. It raised 8000$ for them. Mark personally invited me to tour the factory and that he would show me around personally. Amazing man and amazing company. Much love ❤️ ❤️❤️
I am shocked at the Orangewood. It was my favorite. Well balanced tone. I could tell the Martin had more bass.
I had the Huss as the standout sonically, followed by Martin then Hudson.

Me too-- but as a Martin player, assumed the "best" sound was the D41... but it turned out the full sound I liked best was the Huss.

Agree. When we record acoustic we shoot for a tone like the Huss. We are using the D28 and Santa Cruz in the studio.

Yup, same here.
I got all three wrong. My big takeaway here is that the Orangewood can hold its own against the more expensive models.

It can somewhat hold its own, but it definitely doesn't have the low end of a Martin, which is very noticeable. I have no doubt they are great guitars especially for the price, but they're not for an acoustic enthusiast. They would be good for a beginning-intermediate player for sure.
I got the Hudson, but flipped the other two. The Huss & Dalton sounded best to me, but all three sounded really good.

I called exactly as you did! I was thinking during the comparison that I would love to have any one of the three.
Nailed it. The H&D was obvious to me. The balance made it stand out. D41 was thumpy and the Orangewood still sounded new to me.
My favorite sounding guitars, in order were: Orangewood - bass and balanced Huss & Dalton - great bass & boomy Martin - a little too brittle Probably if the Martin was set up and had a neck reset, it would be different and my ranking would change. Really, the orangewood is VERY IMPRESSIVE! Hopefully after you do a neck reset on the Martin, you could do this again. I have a feeling the Martin may go to #1. Either way, great video and I love all your videos! Thanks!
Got it right! Amazing video. Keep up the good content!!
Great comparison, I was very surprised as to how the Orangewood faired in this comparison. You just sold a bunch of Hudsons, great value, good jam guitar!
To my surprise, I got them right! Love the Huss & Dalton sound. Great shoot out and nice way to hide the guitars, pretty funny!
I am blown away didnt know much about the orange guitar prior to your fine vid!
Really enjoyed this video, Jeremy. Enjoyed your playing, too.
I had the Huss & Dalton and Martin switched in my guess. My favorite without knowing was the Martin from the get go though. It just had a subtle amount more of balance to my ears. That being said they all sounded really great and I was shocked with how much that Orangewood held its own. I'm sure with a few more years of play the Orangewood will open up a lot and sound even better. Been looking for a good less expensive backup to my main acoustic and this video has made really consider getting an Orangewood. I loved both the Martin & Huss & Dalton as well and if I had that kind of funds I would no doubt pull the trigger either one of them.
Wow. Very surprised by the Martin. I didn’t think the Hudson would sound better but it does. Great video.
Always love your videos. I like knowledgeable views on acoustic guitars. Down to earth, not showy.
I liked the Huss and Dalton the best and surprisingly, thought the Hudson was a close second!
I've owned an Orangewood Brooklyn for 2 weeks now and I love it. Maybe that helps because I picked the Orangewood correctly. I really couldn't tell the other 2. They all sounded great to me. Thanks for the video!
Nailed it, that huge base was imposible to miss in the Martin, the other two were more difficult to tell apart
I picked out the Martin but was actually surprised how nice the Hudson sounded,, thanks for the video,, I was debating getting an Orangewood,, well you helped me fall off the fence. Haha
My 1980 Sigma DR-41 sounds very much like the real McCoy!! I've been wanting an Orangewood for a while now. Unfortunately, they don't ship to Canada yet. Always enjoy your videos!!
I thought the Hudson Orangewood was the Martin. They all sound good but that Orangewood guitar is really something else

I felt the same.
I wanna start off by saying that I DID NOT miss the whole point of the video, that Orangewood hold up for sure, BUT, I was so intrigued by that tune that you played initially I went and got my guitar and hacked it out. I've learned a few cool tunes from you.
i absolutely loved the orangewood. the huss was my second fav. man what a throat on that orangewood.
I got it correct - BUT, I truly was surprised at how well the Orangewood sounded! The iconic Martin sound was a dead giveaway (for #3), but it took listening to several different tunes to put the H&D as guitar #1. Really fun and informative video!
I actually got it right! I feel like i need to go to vegas now! The sound of that D-41 is heavenly
Loves the Orangewood sound!
Huss & Dalton was my favourite by a long way! Now looking to find a good Huss & Dalton to buy :)
Wow I actually got that spot on I did not expect to
It really depends on what we mean by "sounding old" Torrefied wood definitely changes the sound of acoustic guitars, and I've noticed more volume and responsiveness. Those are definitely two qualities of great old guitars, but in my opinion, the bracing under the hood affects the sound even more than wood choice.
I liked #2 - I don't know H&D so didn't know what it was - thought #3 was the D41 - impressed by Orangewood and surprised
Fun video! My son (15) and I got them right! We picked the orange wood immediately. The tone in the middle is a bit weird/different. The size of that Martin made us clue into its low end profile. All good stuff
I got the Huss & Dalton right. Biggest surprise was the Orangewood. Great format for comparing instruments.
I had the Martin as #2 as well... biggest surprise....they all sounded great! None stood out head and shoulders...
Beautiful Martin !
Great video and playing. Those are some beautiful guitars you have there. First i hear of Huss & dalton, it sounded really good. I loved the Orangewood as well, I’ve become a fan of their stuff. The Martin didn’t sound as great to my ears as the other two, although it’s a beautiful looking guitar. Rock on dude and keep doing what you’re doing 🤘
Watched this video again with a different set of headphones. That makes a difference too. I can't really tell them apart now.
I guessed all correct.. it was difficult though. The orangewood sounds pretty darn good
i loved 1 and 2 the most i think i learned towards 1 for the strumming
I preferred guitar #3, the D-41, and the Huss & Dalton sounded amazing too. The orangewood was not bad, but clearly the lesser guitar.
Wow that orangewood sounds good. And loved the old Martin
I picked them all correctly. There is nothing quite like the round, full tone across the full frequency range of a good, older Martin. The highs are loud but not harsh or brittle like on many guitars. The H&D and Orangewood sound good, especially the Orangewood at that price, and many may prefer their bite in the highs. But to my ears the Martin is the truly magical instrument of the bunch.
Fantastic review! No BS. 👍
All sounded very good. I liked #3 sound the best.
I was on. Only because for me too the acoustic sound I have in my head is the sound that comes out of that huss. And I’m quite familiar with that old Martin boom
Pleasantly surprised myself and got them right. Like the H&D the most.
Got them all right. But that’s because I own a D45 and a orange wood so I can tell right away between the two other one just fell into place after those two. Awesome video though. OW is a serious contender with mid level acoustics. They are just going to continue getting better and that price is going to go up so people need to grab them while they can at this low price point.
Wow, love the sound of that Hello Kitty electric! :P
I had the Martin as 2 and the Orange as 3. Blew me away as the Orange sounds so good.
I thought The Hus was one . That guitar sounds awesome love it. But the Hudson sounds dang good to. Thanks great video Jeremy.
Agree that the Martin D-41 was a different and distinguishable sound. I had that one right. I did not know enough about the others to tell other than they were mahogany instead of rosewood. Once you did the reveal I was very impressed by the Orangewood Hudson.
Zach on “Dipped in Tone” was wearing your shirt last week. 🤘🏻
Got the Orangewood and Huss and Dalton mixed. I've never really heard their sound much but I got the Martin right. I always know a Martin haha
Huss and Dalton was my favorite. I nailed which one was which. The Orangewood sounds very nice for the money. Would definitely buy one.
This was very interesting to me because depending which genre of music you were playing, I went back and forth between the Hudson and Huss, but the Martin was the least attractive sounding to me in every case, which was surprising. I have requested an Austen from Orangewood to review as I focus on the $180-$250 segment. Liked and subbed. Good job.
The differences were not as noticeable as I thought they'd be. I was sure your d41 would blow the competition away but I was wrong. Orangewood has some great pieces now, good comparison video... maybe ur best yet!
Knew #3 was the Martin but blew my mind that #2 was the Orangewood because it definitely sounded superior to me over Guitar 1 (H&D). Totally wowed !! 😲
Wow that orange wood sounds amazing
Wow!! I thought the Orangewood was going to be the very nice Martin. What an impressive surprise!
I guessed correctly. The Orangewood vs Martin had me really confused though. I only guess correctly because the Martin sounded a bit sweeter, but that Orangewood really punches above it's weight class.
Got them correct!! 😊 Awesome guitars
Before watching this video, I placed an order for the Orangewood Hudson today, and I'm looking forward to receiving it. Having said that, the Huss and Dalton was by far my favorite, and the one I would buy if I had the money. The Martin came in second, and the Orangewood last. But the fact is that the other guitars are over 5x or 7x the price of the Orangewood, so I'm still happy I placed the order and looking forward to playing it.
#1 and #2 had full and balanced sound to my ear. I thought #3 was an older guitar and a bit out of balance. Nice job, man! 🦘
I got the Martin, switched the Huss and the Orangewood! All I own is a Yamaha, but I’ve always lusted after a Martin. Maybe I should get one!
I got them. I preferred the Orangewood but the Martin was full and nice.
I think you just sold me on the Orangewood!
My ears are shot after working in a boiler room for 43 years. They all sound like keepers to me. That said I guessed correctly.
I got them all correct The Martin was of a completely different tonal quality. That said I was impressed with the Orangewood. It really is a nice testament of the use of the aging process and overall quality of the guitar.
Honestly I chose the third Guitar on all 4 videos , because it had low-end - mid - top end tones well balanced & a warm nice tone which I very much like. I don’t think I can afford a 1970’s Martin . That now put me back right on square one, on my hunt for a 6 string . My mind was first set on a used Gibson, then I watched a video Rhett Shull choosing a used H&D with a great tone so I was looking for a used Huss & Dalton torrefied one. Thanks for a great video, Onward & upwards for me then.🙄
Hi Jeremy, the H&D souded suprisingly somehow "dusty" but very nice and rounded, the Hudson was loud and clear, open and wide and chimey with lots of open highs and mids like tiny-little bells, sounds modern and expensive (!), but not "old", your D-41 was unmistakably strong, powerful, detailed and everything I like and deeply appreciate, maybe the cracks, maybe the time, who knows... my absolute favourite, hands down, but I' m a blues-rock man - now I know what I want to buy, thx. I'm 47 tomorrow, and my ears are older as well, I think one can try, but can't cheat: "Aging" needs the Time. I'd send you the price of that "your favourite" Hudson, so you can pass me that Martin any time 😁 By the way, what You and Mike have done to Raymond and Joshua was absolutely incredible, one of the most amazing things me and my wife have seen in the guitar-community since like...... years, big kudos to both of you, guys 🤠👍🏻God bless you all, keep on playing and posting!!
I got them correct, but I was far from certain, although I was most confident that #3 was the Martin...it definately sounded like an old Martin. They all sounded excellent to my ears, but the Orangewood sounded "newer" to me, just a little crisper/tighter. I recently bought the Orangewood Berkeley which I also think sounds and plays excellent. Great comparison.
I nailed the Martin for its distinct mellow tone. I couldn't hear a difference between the H+D and the Hudson. I am currently Guitar Hunting in that $600 dollar domain. Lots of great guitars, but none available to play before making the purchase. I never like to make a return. I'd rather make a hands on choice. Thanks Again Jeremy Great as usual.
My favorite was always #3, then #2. Preferred #1 over #2 in first sample.
I preferred the Orangewood Hudson by a long shot. It had much more sparkle on the top end and balanced full frequency response. My preferences are in this order 2; 3; and 1.
Loved all three #1 1st , # 3 second , # 2 third . That was the blind comparo. However Very suprised how good they all were, There were some off notes with #3 . but it had great base tone. #1 had best balance.#2 is very good for being new.
Very nice work.. The guitars all sounded good.. in the hands of a skilled guitarist (like you). I was more interested in the tunes that you were playing. Be nice if you put up the same video of you playing but without the guitar pictures and clouds that are hiding how you are playing each tune..
switched my answers. I had the Orangewood first and then H&D. I thought, "i'd like to own the Huss & Dalton but can afford an Orangewood." I already own the Oliver live and the Echo live in vintage Sunburst, and gig out professionally with them. I couldn't make up my mind whether to get a slope shoulder or a square shoulder, now I can get both! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go by a Hudson live and a Delores live Thanks for the video!!
The Orangewood was brighter than the other two. It was close to the H&D, but brighter. The Martin was obvious due to the scooped mids.
The orange wood sounded the best to my ears !
Nailed it
Orangewood guitars are amazing I got a Dana mahogany and I bring it to school every day
Guessed correctly ,however have to say for the money that Orangewood is soooo impressive !
I had the Martin at number 3 from the beginning. The Martin totally stood out and I couldn't tell much of a difference between the other two, but I thought they sounded good, just not Martin good.
#1,#3,#2 in that order. HD had full sound with better highs. OW was thin on most tests. M was full but missing those glassy highs (typical). I chose HD for the win. Good test - I like Blindfold challenges because it makes it all about the sound and not the name on the headstock. Great review!
I didn't try to pick which was which, but my order of preference was 3, then 2, then 1. All good sounding acoustics, though. I don't usually go in for torrefaction, but I'm always open to changing my mind.
I got all three after the first set of samples. The Orangewood reminded me of a friend’s satin finish Larrivée. I thought the Martin sounded much like you’d expect it to. The H&D sounded very balanced. I can’t say that any of them sounded older, but I also think it’s hard to get some of those nuances from a microphone.
Lots easier with headphones. I still like the Rosewood back and sides with that great bass (I have a fantastic D-28) but that Orangewood sounds great. I've emailed them because I might like to get one for a school fundraiser. Thanks Jeremy. Wonder if Orangewood makes a short scale.

i had the D41 correct as number 3. Depending on what you were playing, I mixed up the H and D and Orangewood. Switching to headphones i got the H and D correct.
That Orangewood sounded great.
Got it! Took me the whole session though to decide between the Huss and the Martin. You mention "Feel" (emotion)...yep also the response to your playing. The Orangewood takes the points for the price for sure and sure sounds pretty good. Martin had that mature sound and the rosewood well, it's rosewood. Gotta say this video made me less of a rosewood snob. I do have a D18 and and Eastman E10P which I just bought and learning to appreciate the crispness vs the mellow rosewood tone with my 1974 D28 and 2000 J40. The Huss had everything including the higher price but if one can afford it why not life is too short, even if you are 13 which I am not. Imagine at age 13 getting a great guitar like the Huss or a fixed up 1970 Martin D 41. Again life is too short. Thanks and Cheers!
Got it right from 1 to 3. The Orangewood did sound good on the first round of strumming.
I wasn't trying to guess which guitar was which but was picking the best sounding guitar. To my taste, I chose 2, 3, and 1 in order of my most liked guitar sound. "WHAT!!" #2 was the Orangewood, of which I have but of a different Orangewood model! To me, the Orangewood here sounded livelier and clearly had more tones on the full spectrum. I guess I made a good purchase with my Orangewood 🙂
Great video. Didn’t like the Orangewood, but for the price it’s good value. H&D was the best for me.
I preferred and suspected #2 as the OW. I have a cheapo Morgan...LOOOOOVE IT! #2, #3, #1....
Pretty easy tell the different. That Huss n dalton man I tell you, what a beautiful sound guitar. You could tell the Martin with the bass and how you were playing it. The orange wood still the dullest sounding one IMO
Very surprised by Orangewood! Thought it was the Martin. My favorites in order were 1,2,3
I love the Martin sound.
