Great lesson. I love the tone you have for this lesson. What gear are you using to achieve it?; What pedals, and what amp is this? Fender Deluxe reverb? Which model/year exactly? Excuse me for not knowing the exact model based on appearance.

Thanks! Okay, you've asked, so you get a bit of my philosophy and process for players improving their tone. It's really (and I mean REALLY) important to avoid pedals as much as possible - especially if you're not an advanced player yet. You've got to develop that finger tone. My pedalboard has only 5 pedals - mostly they are off except for the noise gate. (1. Delay, 2. Modulation (chorus, flanger, phaser - all okay), 3. Overdrive, 4. Compressor, and 5. Noise Gate). I also use a little amp reverb. With any pedal, I advise using as little as possible to get the effect you want. I use mild compression in my home office/studio to get a little more sustain without volume. That's one you've got to be very careful with. Easy to add too much - believe me, I make that mistake often! The Deluxe Reverb is a Tonemaster ... probably 2022 or 2023. I bought it in 2023. I like it and use it gigging, as it's light and close enough to tube responsiveness. The key is really how you set the guitar and amp. My recipe for early 1970s rock is: 1. Turn your guitar volume on 10 2. Turn your amp up to get the breakup you want for lead. 3. Turn your guitar volume down - until you're at the edge of breakup or lower if you're mostly playing clean. Good luck, and seriously, focus on your guitar, amp and fingers. Ditch the pedals as much as possible. Add them in when you're getting happy with your tone with the "Big 3" (Guitar, Amp, Fingers)

Nice to see and hear a serious player. Maybe, just Maybe, say out loud what you are thinking in real time while you are flying around the neck. "I'm gonna do a Dm scale here, in the CAGED system A formation, Dm scale, now I'm off to ...Am chord gonna do C major scale at 8th fret..

Thanks! You know, mostly what I'm thinking is, "Doo, dah, doo, doo, deedledee, dah". It's musical ideas mostly - not scales or formations for the most part. But I know that's not all that helpful.
