Guitar Duel - Brandon vs. Freddie
Ойын-сауық
We saw Rocksmith at E3 this year and Ubisoft sent us an advance copy. Brandon challenged me to a duel to the death on the electric axes on Blur's Song 2.

Man going back to these old videos really makes me feel nostalgic. It always brings me back to who I was and where I was in 2011.

4:06 You can see the exact moment Brandon dies a little inside
Imaging while he's sitting there shooting ducks by clearly struggling to play the guitar, you grab the guitar off him and tell this guy, that in 8 years time, you'll be leading a game studio making the cutting edge virtual reality game the industry is looking toward to.

8 years of guitar practice really paid off
11 years later and Brandon is about to change the VR game forever.
Seeing these guys working hard back in 2011 made me work hard and get into grad school and now I'm realizing some of my childhood dreams. These guys were part of the reason depression didn't set in and kept me focused while keeping me entertained.

when you study something you know which things are subjective and which are not.. and i know technical guitar skills are not subjective, so its not a matter of opinion.. for a hobby, i wont say freddie's playing is ''bad''.. but he lacks the motor skills to be a good guitar player, which can be trained, but you know when someone who's learning guitar is a natural.. and he's not.. i was surprised though, i was expecting something worse, and of course i enjoyed it :D (sorry if my english is bad.. i hope you can understand)
@Darkvalentine333

Badi Really, because i know guitar pretty well and I disagree entirely. I also enjoyed the video but i think he has the makings of a good guitar player. He did just fine. Plus, its actually really Hard to tell if someone is a natural simply because we have no idea how seriously he took this AND its an extremely easy song. im not saying he IS a natural, but i AM saying theres literally no way to tell from this video.
These were the guys that inspired me to go to film school. Never regretted it
No matter what a FreddieW videos is about, the editing is always flawless
before i watched this i thought freddys vghs role was just a role

No, I could tell he knew how to play. If not, then I would be truly impressed with his acting ability... but he isn't even an actor, and I can tell when ACTUAL actors can't actually play. I played for long enough to be able to notice a faker, and its so obvious... Fingers are not on any semblance of a note, strumming is stiff and awkward looking with an inconsistent tempo... and despite what people think, even pros still need to recheck their finger position occasionally to make sure everything is still where they think it is. Hell, sometimes I put my hands on my keyboard shifted one key to the right, and it even has a bump to help prevent me from doing that :P There is no tactile feedback with finger positioning, even blind people put bumps on the neck for reference. You really have to know at least the basics to have any idea how to fake it convincingly.

Man that is so cool about the game having a real guitar pluged into the game and you get to even play the game working.
O.O this legendary nerd is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO legendary that he doesn't even have to look at the SCREEN!
If you know a song well on an actual guitar, this game isn't quite so good since it has a delay that means that even though you are playing correctly it thinks you aren't, since you have to play too early....

It gets delay if you output audio through HDMI as well. If you're on previous gen, use AV cables to do separate output, on current gen use optical adaptor.
Oh boy, we got a badass over here.
For all of you wondering, the song's name is: "Song 2" by Blur
this was amazing :)
Man videos of this era are my childhood (haven't seen this one tho). Also had no idea freddie could shred on guitar!
Best vid just amazing
Also, I still really want that game.
this makes me want to get it. might possibly one day...
@BrandonJLa would you recommend that game over "real" lessions`? curious about that^^ cherrs!
That's a lovely looking guitar :3
Great song.
DO MORE OF THESE
Makes sense, thanks!
you are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lucky for getting the game early !
Enjoyed this video :P
Freddie should upload some footage of him jamming, I always see numerous instruments strewn about, lets see him put them to use!
They pretty well are. It teaches you how to hit different surfaces with sticks to make noise to the beat of a song. Expert has every note except for the quietest ghost notes and left kick notes. As someone who learned through the game and is a somewhat successful drummer, it's like the real thing.
THAT GUITAR COLOR IS SICK ASF
Both of their scores were OVER 9000!
This made me learn Song 2
I miss you BRANDON😭😭😭😭
Man, I love how the Gretsch sounds.
Rocksmith: Speeding up peoples way of learning the guitar, in a fun and not so dull manner ^^
Want a new video to see how far brandon's gotten since...
assuming its in standrad tuning bminor or b diminshed minor hope that helps also check out my channel for some good music vids if u like :3
Damn new video lets see who wins
That would be awesome! Even if they would only make one video! :D
it came out last month duuuude!
That guitar has a beautiful sound....
Ohhh that riffs from Freddie @_@ You are also good in playing guitars! First time i saw you doing that :D
i like how the high score is different after the battle.
you can find them at the music store. usually in books
Can you guy do more of this?
This is like three years of what he is talking about
That just ispired me to start practicing again
I want this game... :(
ok.. time for yall to get a personal trainer for all the crew. 2017 is the year to get back in shape.
Freddie just rocked my world, Serious display of raw passion and skill!!!xO 'WHOo HOooo!!;D
Who was that in the background at 1:49? Looks like Ellary Porterfield to me
Thank-you
Freddy made those two-note power chords look so hardcore.
of course. dont judge the game just from this clip... theres a big technic-section, where they teach you hammer-ons, pull-offs, flageolett, palm mutes, tremolos, the barre chord and much more... its pretty good
The title of the song is Blur-song 2 (search it!)
Dude, i gave a plus just coz of the old school progress meter u use
Lets not forget Brandon is a lefty playing a right handed guitar
Guys, the song title is in the description... Blur - Song 2
then i need this
I'd love to see a video of freddie being an entire band.
is the game a seperate system?or just a disk for like your xbox or soomething
It's called "Song 2" by Blur
thats completely different, i too play guitar and guitar hero, at least i did, it helped alot and they both showed each others work....
Yeah you are so right my friend
Yup, i has it! SOOOO FUNNNNN
This looks really good for being 7 years old
Total burn at the end xD
ahh the good old days... i still havent played rocksmith lmao
ya i am learning guitar with this and i am learning fast
he made the series
i know, what im saying is they should post more of that stuff, is what im saying.
Freddy can u possibly post a video of these exercises that you do?
Fair enough, I don't expect it to be rated, but a system that rewards you for playing in key could be implemented. Either way, I'm so doing that.
Yeeeeaaaaah.... I decided to learn song 2 just now... got it down in like twenty minutes
Nevermind about the "hell to implement" part. Just section it off by key and restrict freestyle sections to the key it takes place in.
Rematch 1 year on please !!!!!!
Dude, look at his covers of songs on his other channels. He does really complex stuff, along with his brother and father.
i has rock smith! its awesome!
That was awsome
He WINS on style alone!!!
