I think I've figured out these GRN drafts: 1. Just assume Golgari is open. 2. Draft a good or great Golgari deck. 3. Go 1-2.

I've been binge watching your challenge videos (grixis, storm, jund). So excited to see a new video!

If we first picked the deadweight over the vindicator I'm almost 100% we then go on to make the potentially sweet golgari deck, given our pick 2 would remain the indrik. Quite a strong example here of why it's better to pick the strong mono colour card over the stronger, narrower guild card at the start when we're in the dark about what's being passed. Thanks for another great video, Reid!

Awwww, really wanted to see that Divine Visitation get picked.

I'd bet on him only running 2 or so in his 75. Maybe in sideboard. It's a great card, but it isn't going to affect Jund that much. Abrupt Decay still has more upside for modern, imo.

I really like golgari when you're the only one at the table drafting it. However glowspore shaman is really what you need to get the deck to work. It should have been a common. I had a golgari deck with 3 glowspore and 1 charnel troll. I was also casting my rhizome lurchers on curve as 5/5s

I can't deny you're a great player Reid, and I love your videos too. But Sometimes i swear you are also THE LUCKIEST player I've ever seen draft.

Great play by the opponent to save the spybug on game 3. Shame it wasn't enough.

I feel like you could have played some number of severed strands off of civic wayfinder, 1 golgari guildgate, and gateway plaza. You have enough tokes (sworn companions, witness, portcullis) to support it too.

@1:01:00 I might have played the land first, and then had crush up for whatever the next surveil effect would be, and nab the campaign in response to it?

I think swift blade was extremely worth putting in the deck especially with Bounty of Might, sunholm stalwart, and camaraderie

Austin Millard I disagree, given how light his red splash was. How good is it on turn six? Is it worth having a dead card in your hand until you draw your splash color just because you may semi-combo it with a pump spell? I don't think so.

Think you could have moved to golgari late pack 1. Black seemed super open?

My favorite players are Reid Duke, LSV, Owen Turtenwald, Huey Jensen, Jon Finkel and Yuuya Watanabe to name a few. Hopefully this draft goes better than the one where you faced a brutal Izzet deck

It sounds as though you have a stereo microphone and I can hear when you move to the left side of it. If there is an option to switch to mono, please consider using that. Also, the mouse clicks and keyboard noises come through quite loudly.

I think I would have more seriously considered splashing the vindicator, just for the hilarity with bounty of might.

I definitely think the indrik was correct pick 2. It's a good uncommon making it less likely to show up again than capture no sphere and like you said in the video, its good in both Izzet and golgari whereas the phantasm is really only good in dimir. Also, I actually think the sheildmate does more for selesnya than the woodshaper. The woodshaper is card advantage but the stats are so bad and I think vigilance is severely underrated for selesnya because it's so good with convoke

I hate how every guild except selensnya got a lot of great commons and uncommons to complete their gameplan. In every other guild, there is a lot of cards to make them viable but it seems selesnya only has search companions which isn’t even a top tier card, and very little other cards that produce tokens.

I would have considered dropping the red and going just selesnya halfway through pack three, if not earlier on. Picking bounty agent over guildgate, having a deck that whereas not stellar doesn't have to splash red, and may splash black if the right cards keep flowing.

Justice strike is worth the splash any day but I agree with agent over gate 100%.

Pick 5 pack 1, you don't even mention the Arboretum Elemental. I feel like it is a slam dunk pick for your Selesnya deck over 2/2 dork and 2/1 4 mana value card. Can you please explain to me why you rate Arboretum lower than the others? In general and in this specific spot.

I know reid was in pack three and fully into his mediocre draft thing but he passed a Thousand-year storm. :o

reid seems to massively overvalue gates. They're not worth taking over solid playables unless you need the splash.

knows his Vindicator is a dead card; takes Boros Guildgate over the Rupture Spire land. Proceeds to pass all sorts of Golgari for 2 1/2 packs of the draft.

I love Reid, but this draft was done trainwrecky tunnelvision. He even states late pack 1 that Golgari is open, and it didn't seem like anyone was in GB. Yet he sticks to selesnya for... what? A guildmage? The literal worst guildmage? He was passing great black and Golgari cards left and right when there was nothing to pull him into Selesnya which is already the worst guild. Great player, bad draft.

Pack 1 pick 3, guildmage over assassin, I think I would do this also. the assassin is fine but Golgari I feel is the weakest guild unless 100% open (also the assassin does come back around) Pack 2 pick 4 peacemaker over deadly visit, sure visit is just stronger but worth getting ride of his white cards so far? maybe he is losing 4 decent white cards and peacemaker is pretty decent. Pack 3 pick 3 Charger over visit, and now it's just too late to switch he would be giving now bonds, stalwarts, and charger in this pack along to switch in black. So outside of lurchers that were going late, what amazing g/b cards were really going around? (I mean the only good ones I saw were the 2 visits and statue and 2 of those were is pack 3) I mean sure there might have been some kind of 3 color deck in there but I'm not even sure if that would have been better.

The p1p7 rhizome lurcher at 5:00 was a huge sign that GB was open. That’s a premium card from my experience. Idk why Reid ignored the GB signals :/ White was not open at all pack 1

I disagree, I didn't see any clear sign gb was more open than gw for a long time, and a Guildmage may not be much, but it is something. If anything ai'd have gone into gbw instead of grw. Lurcher is just fine until the late game, and often ends up being played as a four mana 2/2 or 3/3, unexciting.

While I agree that maybe there was a gbw deck, I disagree that lurcher will be played as a 4 mana 2/2 or even 3/3.

@@melissacoats6855 I've seen countless drafts of this format, you often just can't afford to skip too many drops, and would rather play a four mana 2/2 than nothing on turn four if you have no better option.

Be patient?! Dimir has better cards than you. You should have been getting in with Indrik for 2 turns

Sure are a lot of negative opinions on his draft from people who probably have never even gone to a ptq lol
