Guided Meditation for Intrusive Thoughts, OCD, & Anxiety

Hi friends. In this meditation, I lead you through some tools for dealing with intrusive thoughts. Intrusive thoughts often accompany anxiety, and are met with a sense of obsessive worry, urgency, and a desire to get rid of or answer the thoughts.
To learn more about what intrusive thoughts are, visit this site: moodsmith.com/intrusive-thoug...
In this meditation, we'll work with breathing through the intensity of the sensations and on accepting uncertainty.

neatnoot I hear you. It used to be really, really bad for me... I was so scared. I couldn’t picture myself getting better. I’m happy to say that I’m in a much better place now. While I sometimes still get anxious and have an intrusive thought, I’m now able to just let it go, or listen to a song or practice mindfulness and I feel better. I just want to say that while I don’t know you, I believe with all of my heart and soul that you can, and you WILL get better. I promise. Sometimes it hurts, but I’ve learned to laugh it off, like “there’s my ocd again! I know I’ll get through this if I ride out the thoughts and feelings that I know can’t hurt me.” I take comfort in that. Anyways, I know it’s painful, but you’re doing amazing. Trust me. I believe in you :)

When doing this if you get triggered by an image or thought, observe your feelings. You will see yourself feeling anxiety, fear or pain; those feelings are the reason why these thoughts show up, not because you want or like them. If you did, you wouldn't be feeling scared and anxious nor will you suffer these thoughts. Always realize when you're triggered and know the thoughts/images are the result of your anxiety. Observe your mind. Don't question if you're a bad person for suffering these thoughts. It's just our minds showing us what it considers a threat to us, for safety. It's a survival instinct. 🍀

@@mpoghost37 Sure thing! These thoughts aren't real and the images aren't the real thing either; so they can't ever touch us. Keep strong. 😊 -also make sure you got your inflammation checked or you would be fighting this for a very long time. Damage from inflammation is what causes the mental & physical anxiety; restlessness and ocd. It took me about 2 years to fix it. I got tips on how to if anyone needs them.

@@julijana7656 Sure! I'll break it down into two parts. 1st part: food elimination & 2nd part: gut/brain healing. 1st. I struggled a lot when trying to figure out which foods made my ocd worst. Right now I could guarantee these are my biggest enemies: 1. Fried fast food. This one really hurts but the results are worth it. (Pizza/hot wings/anything oil deep fried) 2. High omega 6 cooking oils. ( Corn, Canola) 3. Whole milk. Very inflammatory. 4. Artificial Sugar (candy, soda, high corn fructose) 5. Green Tea. Very high in glutamate - what triggers ocd. 6. Pineapple/Papaya (Extremely harmful to the gut in excess) 7. Non-organic foods (Pesticides aren't good for us) 8. Oatmeal 9. Coffee 10. Bad sleep. I'm pretty sure they apply to most with ocd so it should definitely help.

Overcoming mental health challenges is all about disassociating yourself from the unconscious mind. Consciousness and the now is where freedom and joy is. Through reading, self care, better diet, exercise, therapy and meditation you can learn to begin to detach from the unconscious plague of the mind and step by step walk in the now 😊 keep it up guys! They are so hard to deal with, I am doing the best I can. I am going to get therapy in a few weeks time which will also help me big time. To anyone out there who goes through similar things, intrusive thoughts, depression, anxiety, OCD, I am always a good person to talk to... as I have been through it all. Remember you are loved, strong, brave, worthy, amazing... you can beat whatever you’re going through. It may be difficult, and I know it is, but you can beat anxiety. Amen. ❤️

When they set in the intrusive thoughts they are the most debilitating things ever. Its such a layered thing. It's like being tortured by my own brain. Having a bully, but it's you. A lot of my thoughts are rsd related so I'm afraid people are going to leave me. But I don't truly believe my friends are as cruel as the intrusive thoughts try to make me believe. So I feel intense guilt for even entertaining such thoughts about my own friends. My friendships would all be stable as a rock if these thoughts didn't make me question every interaction after the fact. I hate it.

It’s really nice to see all the advice and guidance, which is in line with the holiday spirit. It should remind us that we shouldn’t lose ourselves from random thoughts. I don't have ocd but I do have adhd and and anxiety and intrusive thoughts and they have gotten so overwhelming, but when I listen to this my invasive thoughts dampen and fade a little every time and make my worries so much less you are such an amazing person, I hope you get the best in life😊😄

I’ve had the worst month of my life, solely because of intrusive thoughts. It’s been one thought that’s been stuck in my head for so long and I can’t shake it no matter what. It makes me feel like a terrible human being and like I will never feel better again.

I found this useful to do, I don't give attention to the thought or fight them, they automatically go away, its really hard to do it, but you'll get it
