Great video! Here's my personal experience over a 4 year time span. I started my skincare Journey with a very mild retinoid (ester) which did practically nothing. Moved up to a stronger retinol and my skin hated it, tried multiple types and strengths. Even got a retinol burn which was scary. I tried the ordinary Granactive emulsion and it did literally nothing and my acne came back. Tried 2 types of retinaldehyde which worked okay, but it turned my skin yellow over time. Switched to adapalene for a year and had good results with acne and anti-aging too. Then I tried retin A .025% a total game changer. Light years better than all the others. It completely knocked out all acne, I couldn't believe the collagen building back up in my skin. Fine lines and wrinkles have disappeared at age 46, it's a miracle worker. It might be stronger but my skin liked it better than retinol. OTC adapalene doesn't compare. I was scared to try Retin-A because of all the horror stories, but it was so worth the transition, the dryness and peeling went away. More powerful than any other skin care ingredient I've tried.

I had an excellent experience with adapalene for acne. It's affordable, relative gentle, and effective. Then I went on a prescription for something unrelated, my hormones went haywire and I broke out horribly, despite the adapalene. My Dermatologist put me on Tretinoin .025% and I've been using that ever since. It cleared right up! I still think that adapalene is an excellent choice!

I'm currently on month 4 of Isotretinoin at 60mg alternating with 80mg every other day and my skin 🙃 is already smooth like butter. I just have dark marks on my face and use the cerave Resurfacing Retinol serum for my night time skin routine. Is that ok? This is my second treatment on Isotretinoin as my acne came back this year. The side effects are a bit*h but they're bearable. The side effects I normally get are backache, headache, joint pain, dry lips, drowsiness, dry throat, loss of appetite, nausea but not all at the same time. I'm lucky I never get nose bleeds. 2019-2021 I was acne free with perfect skin. 🥰

I commented on the community post about using a compounded tretinoin (Agency). I’ve had quite a journey with tretinoin as an ingredient. When I was 21 or 22, I was prescribed Veltin for mild acne. I was told to use every night. I did and it caused me so much irritation that I ended up with enormous acne and scars in places I never broke out before. When I finally stopped, I was stuck with painful acne for nearly 3 years after. I was terrified of every lotion or cream and I was scared off of tretinoin for nearly ten years. I have mild type 1 rosacea and I have acne. I tried so many topicals and prescriptions, dancing around tretinoin or even retinols, but I knew it was what I should be using. Finally, I dived in with OTC adapalene, and went agonizingly slow. I’d use it for a day each week, then two days, then three… I slowly worked up to every night. It transformed my skin but I still had stubborn acne. From there, I began to dip my toe into tret via Curology. It took… 2+ months to adjust to the peeling from moving from OTC adapalene to .011% tretinoin. I’m a year in and now on .012% (trying to adjust to .02%) and if I drop it for weeks at a time, I start to break out again. This slow approach was a godsend to me, my own traumatizing experience, and my hypersensitive skin. Interestingly enough, adjusting to tretinoin has made my skin more resilient in general. I can now use glycolic acid once a week, for instance, when in the past I couldn’t tolerate even lactic acid.

I’m so mad they told you to use it every night right off the bat. All the dermatologists I’ve been to have always instructed me that whenever I start/re-start using tret to initially use at night every other night AT MOST until I acclimated. Having even just one full “rest day” in between applications can make a world of difference for the first several months of use

It gets cold and windy where I live and chaps my face. I use trentinoin and I usually skip it when I have wind burn. The only thing I can put on my face without burning and itching is vasaline.

I love you. You and Dr. Shah are awesome but you guys confuse the crap out of me. Having said that, your information has been very helpful….when I understand it. Gotta dumb it down for me. 😂
