I remember that my love for birds started when my parents bought a sun conure named Nico. He was so sweet and smart. He ended passing away a couple of years ago and it felt weird being in the house without him because he would just lighten up the house. My grandpa had found a cockatiel and had asked me if I wanted him which I didn’t hesitate. I named him Mango. My dads friend had given my him a cockatiel because his mom wasn’t taking care of him. I named him Ritchie because when we first got him he was so quiet which is completely understandable. I played one of Ritchie Valens songs and next thing I know he was whistling. 😊

I also had a female sun conure from when I was six years old or so. She passed a couple years ago now, but everything you said about sun conures was very true, even down to the being cozy under the blanket part. I remember my Mango doing the same thing. Just want to commend you on your dedication to the channel. First video I've seen from you, but the video is two years old and I see comments being replied to as little as less than two weeks ago. Nice to see somebody that cares for their craft.

Just got a little female ? (Possibly) sun conure today. Hand raised and possibly around a year old. She is a real sweety and so gentle! Her nibbles are not a bite at all. My Indian ring neck female bites so hard it draws blood and hurts for days! So this is a welcome change. Haven’t named her yet but I think it will not be Mango as nearly every video I see they are called that 😂. After having budgies, a cockatiel and ring necks I’m really excited to have a sun conure! She is loud, but no where near as loud as my ring neck lol

I asked my mom for a sun conure for my birthday and she said yes! I am saving this video!

Sorry I am getting back to you this late but thank you for the warning!

We are adopting our first Sun Conure next week. He was being rehomed the family were told to get rid of him since they are in an apartment. Before them he was at a rescue. I’ve had other birds but never a conure though I’m quite excited as I been wanting a conure for many years.

No particular thing as a better starting bird, they all come with their own quirks and personalities its whoever is the best fit for you ☺️

I wish I could get a sun conure,I’ve been in love with them for years but I’ve never got the chance to have one of my own,as money is getting a bit harder to manage but I hope that sometime in the future i will have one of my own!

I remember wanting a sun conure but ended up with a pineapple conure. I absolutely loved that chubby boy, named it shanty! But he died after one month of getting him. I was a STUPID birb owner back then. Im getting another bird now, probs going for a sun . Also love how everry sun conure i see its name is mango 😮

i had a budgie that i absolutely adored and my mom has a blue quaker parrot, i’m looking into getting a bird for myself when i move out and i can’t decide between a cockatiel, a lovebird, or a conure 😭 i just love birds

They all have their pro and cons. Cockatiels are sweeties and not as loud as conures but they are really dusty so you have to have air purifiers and give them regular steamy showers. They also have night frights so you have to sleep with a night light on. They are more easily spooked but definitely gentle kind birds. Lovebirds are the chihuahuas of birds. Feisty and angry. Will try and bite you a lot. Luckily they are small, so compared to a conure their bites dont do much unless they are really mad, most of the time they just try and intimidate you. They are also paper shredders. Conures are playful babies who love to snuggle and be inside your shirt. They are the loudest of these three. They are more playful and active and are all silly as they hang upside down. They love to throw stuff off your counter. Hope that helped :)

@@evii888 its important to note there isnt really such thing as a beginner bird. A bird is a longterm commitment and important to do research on any bird you want and to see if they fit your lifestyle :)

Suns were the parrots that got me interested in birds...I ended up with two quaker parrots and an indian ringneck😂

Conures tend to be very friendly. That said there are exceptions but as long as you take appropriate steps they should bond easily :)

@@pinkteavc8420 home school for sure works but think about as well where you will be in the future. Will you go to uni or college from home or residency? You’ll have to shape your future to accommodate these gremlins. If thats something you’re okay with then sure :)

I have two videos on toy recommendations both pet store edition and kid edition but the biggest recommendation I have is wood. Wood toys, suns love to crunch and break wood like its paper.

Suns are actually not ground foragers they forage up in tree’s :) quakers are ground foragers though

A Quaker Parrot bite is seriously nothing compare to a Sun Conure bite. Mine has left scars. I have had mine for 18 years and the biting is my least favorite thing about her. Thankfully she doesn’t bite all the time but sometimes out of no where she will get me good.

One of my quakers bites way harder than she should for a quaker. My boy quaker isnt too bad. My sun has dislocated my finger bone before 😭 and when she was going through puberty it was really painful so I feel you 😭 Luckily she doesnt bite anymore :)

We got lucky! for some reason jendays cost a lot less than suns in my area and we thought we were buying a baby Jenday. Year later and only the tips of his wings are green 😂

I just got ☝️ one . I pulled a mission and drove all over California . Your videos are great I’m so into birds now I have a budget too all my neighbors have birds I live in a tropical place . I have a video of my bird in my latest Post pretty red tail and belly blue on the tail too and red one the face but it’s still dark check video tell me why you think .

I only have the one but sun conures bond VERY well and easily with other sun conures (there are exceptions but majority of the time this is the case)

@@mimisbirdhouse thnx 4 the explanation. Ur conure here has different colours compared to ur other videos so i thought u might have more. But u explained the change due their age. I had a pair pyrrahuras be4, they got extremely territorial and started attacking me. It might have been their hormones bc of the mating season. So im in doubt about getting a partner for my sun, they might turn against me. She is all cuddly and loving now.

@@user-vx4qv1lw1e yes this was when she was a baby and her colors were still coming in ☺️ You dont have to get a mate. You can get the same gender. Sun conures are also great with other types of conures such as jenday, green cheek. They dont mate with other birds who arnt of the same type

@@mimisbirdhouse she got attacked by the pyrrhura pair aswell, so i sold those. I then tried to pair my sun with the largest of all conures, the patagonian conure. That was a disaster, my sun flew away. Normally she stayed close or sat on my shoulder outside. I took her with my to my garden and she would sit and weight on a branch all day. I have a budgie and 2 love birds now they get along well indeed. But i need more suns around. Let me know when u wanna sell urs ;)

Hi so if you have a parrot capable of speech it doesnt mean they will speak. some of them have greater speaking ability than others. Something you can do is just repeat a word everyday a few times, some of them take more time to learn.
