GUIDE to 3D CROSS STITCH on PLASTIC CANVAS | How to do Cross Stitch Flosstube

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Cross stitch on plastic canvas or perforated plastic is very different from stitching on any evenweave. Watch this video tutorial to learn how to do cross stitch on plastic canvas. Since plastic canvas holds its shape, you can even make 3D cross stitch figures using the Joining Stitch and Overcast Stitch (aka over stitch) - both stitches are taught in this video.

I wish the audio was a little louder, but this is a great video. Thanks :) Also, I LOVE how neat the back of your project is. Any tips? I've gotten mine to a point where it's not horribly tangled up back there, but it's still got more chaos than I'd like. Ideally I'd like it to look similar to the front, but obviously it's not going to be perfect.

Thanks for letting me know about the audio! My "trick" for a neat back is that I stitch in hand. The middle finger of my left hand covers the back where I'm stitching, so that I can feel if a knot forms and untangle it right away. That and practice, of course lol You'll get there! For plastic canvas projects, sometimes I'll stitch a duplicate in reverse, then use the joining stitch to cover the edges and connect them back-to-back. Voila! No back side.

Hi Sarah. Excellent video. Full of the kinds of tips that, as a beginner, I need to know. I may have missed it, but did you say where you got your rare earth magnets?

Fantastic intro!! If you are using yarn, how many times do you go though the edge holes? (With the flows, I saw that it was twice).

With yarn, you would really only need to go thought the edge holes once. Yarn is thick enough to cover up. But I haven’t tried this pattern with yarn. If you do, let us all know how you get on!

How do you do the ‘polka dots’ I have a project where there’s one hole and I want to fill it in but I can’t figure out. Please help ! 😢

@@reereedeedee So I think by “polkadots” you’re referring to the individual white stitches in this butterfly pattern? Many in the cross stitch community refer to these as confetti stitches and we have a love / hate relationship with them. lol This tutorial might help: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpaH1ZaIkpSfmZs.htmlsi=1tcuwt_zW9p7EJ8A

It's not cross stitch. It's just called plastic canvas.

Plastic canvas is the medium. In this case, it's actually perforated plastic. Cross Stitch is the stitch I'm using. Needlepoint is most often used on plastic canvas, but you can do cross stitch as well.
