It took me 32 yrs to realize that this hymn is a prayer in song form. I never realized the significance of this hymn growing up cause I was told that it was “old fashioned” but now that im older I find myself turning to these “old fashioned” hymns for consolation.

I grew up baptist a little girl going to church Alone by my self! This song Lead me to Christ at 8 years old People aide God!

This is what saves. You cannot deny it, somebody sitting in the back of an old wood floor church and that anointing of these old songs would fall and next thing you know somebody is shouting and crying. Yes, we need this again. We need a revival.

I’m 41 and so thankful I sat in service with the elders from the post slave generation. They passed something down to us.

I was dealt a devastating blow and it knocked me to my knees. I lost everything including my praise. But I started humming this song and the Lord heard me and answered and through this song I found my praise again!!! So grateful
