Agree. I listen to all the new Llama content while working also (download the vids with youtube premium, so i think that YT throws a good chunk of cash to sir Llama from my views.) I wil prob not have any spare time to actually play D2 though. But the nostalgia vibes and the pretend-planning for D2R release brings joy to my life. So it's all good.

Man, you really do know what you’re talking about. I came to look up a guide because my poison damage was falling off in Act 4 and I’m level 25, and you address that exactly.

Hey Llama, idea for a video if you get a chance. A video that combines what levels and acts you can begin shopping for certain items like teleport charge staff, or lower res wand . I know you talk about them in this video and other runs, but a complete guide for those would be nice if you don't already have that one made. Great content as always, see you!

Love all these guides. I use to play D2 a lot when I had a computer. But I’m getting it for console when it comes out. But I have an idea for a video an don’t know if you made one like this before. How about a guide on where to level up. Like each area before moving on. I remember it was something like Trists, Halls/CS, Chaos, Baal. Cow runs was somewhere in there. But I don’t remember.

I've been leveling my amazon as purely jav. I don't see the upside to doing a hybrid bow/jav amazon. Of my 4 favorite classes, she nukes single targets the hardest, by farrrrrr. My most comfy character for gearing is easily my clickity clackity summon necro.

The upside is speed when you're leveling to lvl 18 when you get charged strike. Poison jav just isn't the fastest. But if you're like me and you care less about the speed and you dislike the hassle of weapon swapping a lot you'll either ignore the poison jav or the fire bow. After lvl 18 it's not worth it for damage, only for fun or walk speed, but then you're not really a hybrid since you'll not be shooting with that bow. I'm guessing you're thinking about the runeword zephyr. That's only for walking speed and you'll have your tele staff in your inventory and no bow skills or even arrows. There's another cheap runeword for a bow that gives you a % off of the vendor prices you can switch your main weapon and shield out while shopping :p I doubt it's worth making it or switching to it when shopping, but if you're planning on getting 40ias javs with skills and/or frw boots with res or ias gloves, you'll be shopping a while ;) If you have the runes, why not make it :)

I limped through Act IV with Exploding Arrow and it was like flicking matches at monsters. I should have gone Jab/Charged Strike as you recommended.

I think instead of Nadir use a 2 socket or 3 IF you can get it helm and stick 2-3 tir runes in it. Mana pots and energy shouldn't be a problem then.

A properly built HC Zon is really, really hard to kill. You use Stone Armor, a Defiance merc, and with your plus skills your chance to be hit is very, very, very low. Between dodge, evade, super high defense, max block, and the HC recovery of Stone, you basically can't be killed. I used my Hybrid zon for body recovery missions for guildmates because she could go into a stair trap (with Tgods and Wisp) basically be unkillable, but able to kill everything else. Also, Stone is the best armor for a Merc, he only dies when he gets stunn locked and Stone keeps that from happening.

Hey Llama, did you do a video like this for the Frost-Fire or FROSTMAIDEN Bowzon? I can't find one.

I never played an Amazon before. What should I prefer? Putting points into Lightning Strike and Lightning Bolt? I saw that the DMG grows to nearly 5k in Power strike -> so what is better - will I ever use Power Strike? Since there are 4 Synergies to Fury and I want a Valkyrie I will not be able to Skill alle Synergies max. Thank you

Isn't multi-shot good for early leveling? Especially if you have socketed bows plus fire charms?

I love your videos and guides, but I have an ocd problem. My mind will not allow me to waste akara respecs on any character.. tokens only for me! Plus I like to level as what my end game build will be, regardless of how much of a slog it becomes. I still love the content though, always learn something new. Keep em comin!

Javazon, plague javelin and charged strike in normal, moving to lightning fury in nightmare. No respec needed. Poison / lightning for end game. Poison won't kill in hell but it counters their rapid healing.

Your guides are amazing bro! one question though - I dont fully understand how you dont run out of mana without energy?

Maybe create the Insight runeword for your Act2 Mercenary. I can give you a step by step on how to do this if needed. Prior to that, if I had to guess, you need to buy a couple mana pots every time you port to town. It speeds up your clear time, which is time you can take to teleport to town quick, sell loot, and make back the gold you spent on potions. It seems like more work, but doing this gives you safer clearing of mobs and you are actually playing the game instead of waiting on mana. Sorry, I have never played Amazon, but saw you haven't gotten a response to your question. And given the context I don't know your level of game knowledge, so if this wasn't helpful I do apologize.

You constantly run out of mana. Bring LOTS of mana pots. Also don't pump points into skills until you have a good source of mana.

Act 3 of Hell made me watch, just get Valkyrie or something sounds like good advice

Why would you go for Zephyr (clvl21) if you do exploding arrow until end of act3 only?

Do you lose quantity charges from javelins when you use your spells?

What if I want to play with the bow only? Is there a way? From the very start? Or at least much earlier than lvl 75?

Do I really need to be repairing my javs all the time to replenish the quantity to keep using my skills?

Lots of guides ive seen. Dont worry about putting more than 1 point in x skill your TORCH will take care of that :)

Good damage, low speed. I definitely always pick them up, but when I can shop for 40ias, I won't use maiden without ias often besides maybe in cows. At low lvls I most often prefer the simple (rare cold dmg) javs over anything else because of their fast base speed and lack of requirements and I won't start making a javazon until I have death sash and gloves from the cow king. I want the start to be fun.

17:15 You will have an easier time if you respect hybrid till you pass hell. Max Plague Javelin and Lightning Fury, and Plague all the lightning immune, and get Life leach helm and Duress and you should have Insight on your merc. you will be perfectly fine, he will take care of the light-poison immune, you just clear around him while he scarps it out. And Durance of hate level 2 IS WAY Worst then act three, trust me. After hell, I stayed Hybrid, but you can go all in light after you beat the game to start farming areas that you can avoid Lightning immune. But do the Plague Fury hybrid to beat hell, and get the merc his Life leach helm and RES chest and insight pole-arm, and you are Gucci.

That boom at 13:33 tho, lol. Startled me.

I remember doing a full dex, str amazon with a jav, and laughing at mephisto cuz it was all block 😂😂

Mrllama what class do you recommend to start with for a newbie? D2 resurrected is closer and i cant decide. I have been playing D3 since launch day but D2 is a completely different game, i will be following your guides for sure.

There are a bunch of good choices, depending on what you want to do. If it is just getting through the game somewhat on your own and explore the mechanics of the game, Druid and Assassin are great. They have strong early damage and their output lasts really well through the game. They aren't gear dependent to get through the acts and are generally very comfortable. If you want a generally slow but immortal character, Summon Necromancer will carry you fairly easily. It won't be fast in hell, and won't be a strong item farmer, but it will comfortably get you through the game. If you want to build a character that will allow you to farm efficiently and magic find, you pretty much always want to start off with a Sorceress. Teleport is critical for farming speed and no other character can match that without gear investment. I think almost everyone should have a sorceress, even if you primarily play other characters. Some specific characters can outperform in specific niches but if you want to do general purpose farming with good encounter variety, sorceresses are unmatched. On the other hand, if you plan to play with friends in a party, Paladins make insane support characters via their auras and Blessed Hammer is a pretty broken damage skill in general but requires some practice so isn't the most new player friendly. I typically like making a Paladin once I have gotten some gear for it as well, although with decent gear, every character is viable.

@@luisv2206 Yeah, it's very comfortable. Druid just has a ton of early damage and also doesn't run into issues with immunities in hell since the easiest druid build does both physical and cold damage. I do recommend at some point making a sorceress because you will want to use it to get gear for other characters but that may be better as a second character. The nice thing about D2 is that if you don't feel like leveling by yourself for a second character, you can fairly easily get rushed through and level at Baal. I do think your idea of starting off on your own is a good one, it gives you more satisfaction from exploring the game. Don't worry too much, the game isn't that hard till you get to Hell and you get three free respecs so you can explore a little.

I would recommend you the hammerdin. Very easy to play. Will be able to do 99% of the content solo. Then you collect experience and try another class. Paladin is also very easy to get to lvl 18 with holy fire and zeal, before you can re-spec to hammers. Don't make the mistake and start with a necromancer. Necromancer is huge fun but only when you know the game. Will be frustrating for new players to be so slow and have their skeletons die all the time :P

Is it a bad idea to get Valkyrie to 17 before getting lightning to 20?

Sorry I’m new to Diablo 2 and I’m used to Diablo 3 where you just grab like 1 item and never worry about your hatred or whatever it is you use for ability’s.

i add ort + sol in helmet lv 27 , why it not turn into lore D:

i just repsecced and accidently held shift and put 170 points into dex now i cant even play my character anymore

Would have recommended javelins with replenish quality or point out starting javs only cost 1 to replenish. Also dun kill Cows :(

They're hell bovine, you'll free them of the demonic possession so they can walk on four legs again in greener pastures. It's all good, plus they have the best chance of dropping bases for runewords if you drop all the magic find. Load up on +skills, ias, and mana per kill and enjoy the human moomoos :p Yes, they're possessed by the "demonic" developers of the game so you're basically forcing them out of the cows :p I'm thinking that's a good thing and they shouldn't be inside the cows :p Faster javs with low req are pretty much always better than replenishing ones or +skill ones. Unless you're farming specific things, i.e. walking more than throwing javs, you'll want attack speed and you'll throw way too much to make replenishing javs worth while.

When you're looking for bases for -your merc- runewords I suppose, or just lvl 60 and up if you do it for fun (I prefer 67 because then you can equip things like a +2 amulet which need nothing else in cows so you can just gamble that). Sadly the exp compared to CS and Baal runs is quite horrible and not worth it anymore.

No mods allowed at the moment. You can essentially respec an unlimited number of times by farming items that drop off hell bosses and cubing them.

Freezing arrow zon is viable through hell with help by Valkyrie and decent gear Merc, but Magezon is better option for immune monsters. 20 freezing arrow 20 immolation or fire arrow 1 to all passive skills 20 exploding arrow 20 cold arrow 1 multi shot 1 guided arrow Rest goes into Guided arrow, strafe, valk or dodges.

1 free respec per difficulty, but once you reach hell mode (3rd playthrough) you can find extremely rare dust items that you combine into respec tokens using the Cube

Am I the only one who thinks that Llama would be a great addition to the maxroll D2R team?

you should mention that these don't work for HC mode x.x been watching all your guides and have noticed that continuous issue. Some of the most important design features are always skipped for efficiency measures, yet doing so leads to auto-death, especially when you are raising your first character.

Don`t get me wrong I love you Lhama but you respect like it costs nothing, we get only 3 respects per char and then if we make a mistake we can brick our chars if we cant get a Token, so I would apreciate if you would make sure to make this guides for us poor people because I am sure you can get tokens anytime you want but we cant.

How do you only have 67 skill points at level 64?

One thing I keep noticing from your guides and playthroughs both. You never seem to prioritize leech at all on weapon-using characters, and instead depend on going back to town endlessly for more potions. Is it more efficient use of equipment slots? Yes. Is it annoying as crap to not be self-sufficient and have to keep your whole pack full of potions? Very yes. (and if you get pinned in a pile on HC, running out of potions, either health or mana, means you die (or at least have to punch out of the game))

it is because he normally go through the game quickly, under leveled and under gear.. ur char have to have high base dmg weapon in order to make leech work and useful.. which most of the time he didnt..

Exactly what Chee Yew Koay said. The weapon damage isn't high enough to make it worthwhile. That said, mana per kill helps a lot more than I thought it did and sigons and death gloves + one other piece of the corresponding set will give 20ias and 10%/8% life leech and death's sash gains cannot be frozen. Death's also has only a few slots but it's also very low lvl and low/no requirements. Leech on an amazon isn't viable until late game with high end high damage gear, but like the mana per kill, every little bit can help you stay out in the field instead of having to portal back to town for pots. Especially for the amazon it's mostly a QOL thing and not a survival thing. She has little mana to begin with and has expensive skills - she's a heavy drinker. Main thing for all characters is: having fun leads to more playing time which inevitably leads to a higher lvl and finding better gear.
