This was just precious. Mature, experienced Bishop Barron and these two young, brilliant and obviously in love with the Lord priests. A joyful 30 minutes.

I don't think there is anyone who makes Catholicism as appealing as Bishop Barron. In just a few short months, he has drawn me in. Starting RCIA this week. Nice podcast, Fathers!

Bishop Baron appears to be a heretic. He doesn’t seem to believe that anyone actually goes to hell.

This was so unexpectedly good.

It's very amusing to see Fr Gregory Pine smile whenever Bishop Barron make a direct reference to Aquina's teaching. Great reactions! Fr Pine, don't be discouraged! I think you speak well in all your various videos and with intelligence and wit. I always find you have good points to ponder and reflect. But for this video, Bishop Barron just bring a lump to my throat when he said the Eucharist is Ipse Christus and continue expounding on it. For some of us in Asia who have missed the Eucharist for months because of COVID, it just opened up such a longing for Him.

I love how the good bishop encouraged you all to do what you do, preach the truth, boldly and clearly. Fr. Pine, the regular Catholics in the pews desperately need your good preaching to continue to convert our hearts, minds and souls. The generation before you all were badly formed in the faith. Virginia, while I agree, there has been formation with holes or misdirections, do you really think that these men could be who they are without having been led by well-formed, faithful men and women of the faith? Don't despair of everyone formed in the generation before. Thank God for the ones rightly formed and faithful; thank Christ for being the Truth and the Light that led them and "this generation" to the joy that we know and in Whom we have our hope. Pax Christi.

I rediscovered the Eucharist through the TLM. There’s such a strong connection when there’s nothing but you and direct line with the altar of sacrifice praying WITH the priest with your eyes, your heart and your mind in full focus. To receive in the humble presence of kneeling while receiving the body of Christ that is only touch the hands of the priest whom represents Christ. There is Truth in the practice.

Interesting episode! I appreciated Bishop Barron's idea of this period being a "Dominican moment" and incorporating the question, "Yes, but is it true?" in all of our dialogues/engagements with others.

The Dominican Third Order (Lay Fraternities) is doing some great work in the space where the First Order is not present. As Bishop says now is the time for the Dominican family. Preaching and teaching through a Thomistic lens is distinct and powerful and needed in this age. Another great episode!

Biology major, butterfly fan. I've entertained the thought of the Eucharist, as edible essence of Jesus, the spiritual food necessary to sustain us throughout the pupate state, the waiting. If we do not have the Christ infused within us, one and the same, we shall not be recognized to God. I also trust in Divine Mercy. So I'm doubly covered👍🏻🙏.

All my 3 daughters and son went to Order of Preachers run schools and universities here (OP noble work in the Philippines)... theology subjects are included in the curricula for all university courses...architecture, accountancy, psychology and business. Loved the discussion in general, but my favorite thing was the fact that Bishop Barron said that the Dominican habit is cute, I think he’s right, it’s very cute indeed and also looks very high maintenance, a combo that shows the reality that most be confronted when working the faith. I’m here trying to win the book on the Eucharist. ❤️‍🔥

THE OATH AGAINST MODERNISM To be sworn to by all clergy, pastors, confessors, preachers, religious superiors, and professors in philosophical-theological seminaries. I . . . . firmly embrace and accept each and every definition that has been set forth and declared by the unerring teaching authority of the Church, especially those principal truths which are directly opposed to the errors of this day. And first of all, I profess that God, the origin and end of all things, can be known with certainty by the natural light of reason from the created world (see Rom. 1:19), that is, from the visible works of creation, as a cause from its effects, and that, therefore, his existence can also be demonstrated: Secondly, I accept and acknowledge the external proofs of revelation, that is, divine acts and especially miracles and prophecies as the surest signs of the divine origin of the Christian religion and I hold that these same proofs are well adapted to the understanding of all eras and all men, even of this time. Thirdly, I believe with equally firm faith that the Church, the guardian and teacher of the revealed word, was personally instituted by the real and historical Christ when he lived among us, and that the Church was built upon Peter, the prince of the apostolic hierarchy, and his successors for the duration of time. Fourthly, I sincerely hold that the doctrine of faith was handed down to us from the apostles through the orthodox Fathers in exactly the same meaning and always in the same purport. Therefore, I entirely reject the heretical’ misrepresentation that dogmas evolve and change from one meaning to another different from the one which the Church held previously. I also condemn every error according to which, in place of the divine deposit which has been given to the spouse of Christ to be carefully guarded by her, there is put a philosophical figment or product of a human conscience that has gradually been developed by human effort and will continue to develop indefinitely. Fifthly, I hold with certainty and sincerely confess that faith is not a blind sentiment of religion welling up from the depths of the subconscious under the impulse of the heart and the motion of a will trained to morality; but faith is a genuine assent of the intellect to truth received by hearing from an external source. By this assent, because of the authority of the supremely truthful God, we believe to be true that which has been revealed and attested to by a personal God, our Creator and Lord. Furthermore, with due reverence, I submit and adhere with my whole heart to the condemnations, declarations, and all the prescripts contained in the encyclical Pascendi and in the decree Lamentabili, especially those concerning what is known as the history of dogmas. I also reject the error of those who say that the faith held by the Church can contradict history, and that Catholic dogmas, in the sense in which they are now understood, are irreconcilable with a more realistic view of the origins of the Christian religion. I also condemn and reject the opinion of those who say that a well-educated Christian assumes a dual personality-that of a believer and at the same time of a historian, as if it were permissible for a historian to hold things that contradict the faith of the believer, or to establish premises which, provided there be no direct denial of dogmas, would lead to the conclusion that dogmas are either false or doubtful. Likewise, I reject that method of judging and interpreting Sacred Scripture which, departing from the tradition of the Church, the analogy of faith, and the norms of the Apostolic See, embraces the misrepresentations of the rationalists and with no prudence or restraint adopts textual criticism as the one and supreme norm. Furthermore, I reject the opinion of those who hold that a professor lecturing or writing on a historico-theological subject should first put aside any preconceived opinion about the supernatural origin of Catholic tradition or about the divine promise of help to preserve all revealed truth forever; and that they should then interpret the writings of each of the Fathers solely by scientific principles, excluding all sacred authority, and with the same liberty of judgment that is common in the investigation of all ordinary historical documents. Finally, I declare that I am completely opposed to the error of the modernists who hold that there is nothing divine in sacred tradition; or what is far worse, say that there is, but in a pantheistic sense, with the result that there would remain nothing but this plain simple fact-one to be put on a par with the ordinary facts of history-the fact, namely, that a group of men by their own labor, skill, and talent have continued through subsequent ages a school begun by Christ and his apostles. I firmly hold, then, and shall hold to my dying breath the belief of the Fathers in the charism of truth, which certainly is, was, and always will be in the succession of the episcopacy from the apostles. The purpose of this is, then, not that dogma may be tailored according to what seems better and more suited to the culture of each age; rather, that the absolute and immutable truth preached by the apostles from the beginning may never be believed to be different, may never be understood in any other way. I promise that I shall keep all these articles faithfully, entirely, and sincerely, and guard them inviolate, in no way deviating from them in teaching or in any way in word or in writing. Thus I promise, this I swear, so help me God. . .

I would ask you all to pray that the Catholic Church unites to solve the Homelessness/Drug Addiction problems of the world. I would ask that you pray for Religous Orders to unilaterally take this up and thereby rebuild our foundation and reputation in the world. We have built hospitals and schools with God’s help. Pray for God’s help. We need to pay for the disorder we have wrought on the world through the priest sexual abuse scandal. If we helped the world people might give God a second chance and we could save souls. I work in faith formation and young people do not see the church as good. Let’s do good. Let’s show good. God is good yet people cannot see it in priests who don’t repent. We have protected sinners and allowed them to nor repent. PRAY FOR PUBLIC REPENTANCE, VOCATIONS AND SOCIAL JUSTICE.

He’s leaving out critical parts of the Gospel that the devil doesn’t want us to know. Stop reading Barron’s books! Read a Douay-Rheims Bible instead and pray your Rosary daily. Prayer from your home is often more efficacious than going out into the world. God is far more powerful and intelligent than us. Pray to Him for help and guidance. If you are blessed with a priest who holds the true faith (are there any?), then you can heed their advice, but most priests I’ve found are essentially Protestants who think they are Catholic. Barron is a Protestant.

The new Mass took out everything that was Catholic and put in a bunch that is Protestant. Aquinas said the Gregorian Mass, not this Cramner little supper service with a circus atmosphere.

@@carolynkimberly4021 Indeed he did, but he also taught that the Eucharist can be understood as an allegory for food. A spiritual food. One that sustains us throughout our lives so that we can make it on the journey spiritually. That in no way contradicts the sacrificial nature of the Eucharist at all. It’s just another way of understanding it’s practical purpose in our lives. Bishop Barron acknowledges and widely promotes the sacrificial nature and purpose of the Eucharist. I’ve watched many hours of Bishop Barron’s videos and trust me, he roots his theological thinking primarily with Scripture, Thomas Aquinas, and the Church Fathers.

@@curiouschris98 Of course, Holy Viaticum is our food for the journey and the EUCHARIST is the Bread of Life. But the primary purpose of the Mass is to offer right worship to God, not for us to receive Communion. The priest offers the sacrifice and consumes it as in the temple sacrifices. The new Mass is all about the congregation as it is in Protestantism. I grew up with the Mass of antiquity. Bishop Barron can only look at it as a stranger. I know it from the inside.

We have united the Church to heresies through the teachings of the questionable council.

Be careful with hosting Bishop Barron. He sometimes seems to veer from orthodox Catholic teaching.

@@polemeros Why do you consider my observation of her calumnous posts - not only here but many other places throughout these comments - to be an attack? Do you agree with the things she is saying? Do you think she is conducting herself in a manner Jesus desires of His followers?

Think about it. We are being led by bishops who were never taught the Faith, who were never schooled in the theology of St. Thomas Aquinas, who never heard of transubstantiation. All they know is V2 which is not in line with what has been passed down everywhere and at all times until 1965. I can't relate to this imposter.

@@polemeros I wasn’t attacking her personally, as I made no direct judgment on her as a person not her motives. I am merely questioning how much she actually knows about Bishop Barron, his work, and his educational background, because from her comment it’s pretty clear she knows very little, as watching even a few videos of his shows knowledge of Aquinas is vast and with little equal. I’m merely bringing to light the ignorance of her statement. As was clearly stated, she’s clearly being presumptuous. Now, I can’t know how much of Aquinas she herself knows, but I am almost certain Barron has her clearly outgunned in that department.

I just unsubscribed; my reason? Your willingness to promote Barrons. Good luck.
