I think that the YSL is more versatile, you can wear it with jeans and white T-shirt or with a little black dress. I find that that the Gucci is hard to dress up, it's more sporty.

This is a good point! And if Gucci would have kept on the soho collection, I would say yes!!! I actually wished they kept on making it. But since they didnt I think it is now 2021 an outdated collection and yes they keep on making the disco bag, but i still think it has an outdated feeling.

I like both. The deal breaker for me is the weight. Can you state what it is for each?

Life hack: You can cut off (gasp I know) an inside piece of the Gucci tassel and sew it around the strap end to keep it down. That way it matches the leather. You won't notice it missing from the tassel if you cut it from the center.

Do you find the center of your YSL POpping upwards? Mine is loosing shape VERY quick, in the middle it’s popping upward and inward if that makes sense like pinching

I heard it does that if you don't maintain it. The leather is a bit soft but I try my hardest to keep it "filled" when I'm not using it so it hasn't happen yet!

Well done with the comparisons! Just letting you know - if you do decide to do a DIY on your Gucci bag (the bit with the strap), wait at least till your warranty has expired. Let's say something happens to your bag and you decide to take it into the store to get it fixed, but when you begin change the design of their items, the warranty won't cover it.

What is the weight of the two bags?

Thanks for your comprehensive review ! In Europe the Soho is a tiny bit cheaper brand new, but you can find very good condition second hand ones for about half the new price. The Saint Laurent one hardly ever loses value.

I put a hair band on my soho disco bag strap so it doesn't flip out.

Absolutely loved this video as the YSL is on my wishlist. Just a thought as I am assuming the strap buckle opens up completely on each bag? You could remove and use the little leather bit on the Gucci when you aren't using the Ysl and vice versa. It's a pain having to do it each time but that would annoy me less than the strap flapping about (absolute pet hate)

The strap buckle does not completely unbuckle for each bag!!!
