「三輪 神遊」は、奈良の三輪山を舞台に数々の古代神話が語られるお能です。シテの三輪明神である大物主命（男神）が伊勢の神である天照大神（女神）の姿で現れ、神々の物語を語ります。睦まじく暮していた夫は実は杉の御神木であった話や、天照大神が天の岩戸に隠れた時に、八百萬の神達が舞楽をしたのが「神楽」の始めなのだという話です。
最後に、本来、伊勢と三輪の神は一体であったと神道の奥義を説くのでした。
「神遊」は小書といって通常の「三輪」とは違う喜多流が古くから大切にしている特殊演出になります。後半の橋掛りを使った神々しいまでの舞は、まさに神の世界で遊ぶかのようです。

Noh: Miwa Kami Asobi
“Heavenly Dance Among the Gods”
Set at Mt. Miwa in Nara, Miwa Kami Asobi is a Noh play that brings together several strands of Japanese spiritual mythology. The story involves Omononushi, the male god of Mt. Miwa, playing the shite role in the likeness of Amaterasu, the female god of Ise. It also touches upon myths like the happily married couple where the husband turns out to be a holy cedar tree, and the tale in which a panoply of gods surrounded Heavenly Rock Cave to lure Amaterasu out of hiding, thus giving rise to the musical tradition now called kagura. Lastly, the play comments on how the gods of Ise and Miwa were originally one and the same.
Kami Asobi is a kogaki (special performance) appended to Miwa. The heavenly dancing on the bridge-like hashigakari section of the stage offers audiences a glimpse of what it must be like to dance among the gods.
