Driving a clutch car at the strip takes talent and practice. You already have enough to think about without controlling your rpm and your clutch pedal. And with those wimpy tires that torino could burn them through the 1/4. Notice the dodges consistency? Thats why most people prefer an Automatic in drag racing. But if the ford guy worked on his suspension, trim that 300 pounds off the car, going around the road chickens would be no problem 😊.

Everything else I can can't be raced in pure stock or even FAST, because they all run on E85/E100... Except the 70 Cuda, its 340 is low compression and its more of a cruiser with AC and nice stuff. Holy Carp Batman! A Great video. Talk about a nail-biter! Daayum! I`m Mopar until death, but I was sooo bummed for the Torino in that last race. Mulligan?!? Talk about close racing. Great cars great racing. I do question the odd number of races that are so common. Odd numbered races just don`t work fairly. For a huge example of a fair number to judge something. How about a court room? Think about it. An odd number of jurors simply would not work. The same with car racing. Thank You. (Have you noticed, that over the years, I have calmed down soo much? Well, except for tears of Joy!)

Myself had a 70 thunderbird with the 429 thunderjet motor. A living room on wheels Heading to a concert in Detroit the I-75 overpass that goes uphill towards Detroit I hit well over 130mph and the car started shaking so I let off. She still had more. That being said doing a burn out broke the frame in 1/2. That was her demise. I would have loved to have that motor in a Fairlane or stang.

Well the quickest (and best looking) car lost because the GTX had a more experienced driver. That Torino was the best looking one of them all and with ALL the right boxes checked off! Too bad they didnt make a light weight version, maybe getting it under 4,000 lb.? Reminds me of the UTG (uncle Tony garage)race this weekend where he holeshotted a F100 w/ 700hp 429 and him in a 318 powered 4 door mopar (with a little Nitrous).

I had a chance to buy a 69 GTX and I didn't because I was 18 and dumb lol I already had a sweet Dodge Challenger 1972 R/T Premium, but that GTXhad a 440 and factory line locks and was green just like that one. I think it needed a new transmission. It had sloted mags and meaty tires and was a damn nice car. I'm so stupid to not have bought that one. But I was stupid and sold my Challenger so lol. Now they are damn near out of my price range. I always watch your vids and dig them.

I had a 440 before so im not surprised by the numbers. It's nice to know that the common 440 would run with the Super Cobra Jet though. It's a proven engine too. I dont think a SCJ could handle all the things ppl put 440s through. The 440 (6 pack) is one of the few factory engines that could outrun a hemi. Never underestimate a 440!!!

There was a 429 scj 70 rancharo that the school teacher lady would bring in to the ford dealer I worked at as a car porter I would take it out to my school and roast the tires in the student parking lot. I think I messed up the clutch last time she brought it on. It was fun while it lasted it did much better than the Pantara!!
