Just got it delivered and installed. Machine works great so far. Water level NOT a problem for me, I did two loads one at max water level with Deep Fill turned on (held 3 seconds until light came on) it filled well beyond the clothes level so all was completely immersed (and more). The other load with "Precise Fill" and which was actually a little deeper fill than other HE machines I've worked with. I own a part time cleaning business and we do a lot of Air B&B's etc so I I've worked with a lot of different HE machines, and some do not use enough water in my opinion, this machine had the small load of clothes exactly to the clothes level, so all clothes were PLENTY wet enough to clean. Two things make me already like this machine...1) speed of fill, took mine about the same amount of time in this vid, and half as long as my previous machine. 2) rinse and spin cycle is very efficient, VERY FAST, had no problems with huge load and my clothes were completely rinsed and spun without having to do a deep fill rinse cycle. WOW. OK, So the machine makes some noise as it's washing....to me it's saying WASH WASH WASH...and doing it's job. I didn't buy the machine because it's quiet. So far this washing machine works fine....took me a few minutes to find the right combo of load size, Fill options etc....but it's pretty easy to figure out.

The tub on this machine is huge. I just want to add that when I first got the machine I was getting a full tub of hot and cold water but overtime the hot water was less and less to the point I was only getting 6 inches of hot/warm water. I was ready to throw mine away until I saw a KZread video saying to clean the water hoses from both ends. I figured what the heck I’ll give it a try. OMG it worked! The hoses that attach to the water valve have mesh on the ends so if you have hard water the hoses get blocked with sediments. I cleaned both ends of each hose and my washer now fills to the top with cold and hot water

Great Video. I think this machine fills up better and washes clothes better than most new highly expensive sets. A lot of the new machines at $900. and over, fill with half that amount of water and sometimes Never wet all the clothes at all. The noise this machine makes is a Small price to pay for the better water fill and Long Thorough Washing that it gives the clothes. Thanks for posting.

Folks, after much research I bought this for my elderly mother,89, who can’t learn new things, etc. we did a test wash using Normal/deep fill/2 spray rinses with extended spin. It took maybe an hour and WOW! Talk about water! So far it’s awesome. I think we can use the Speed Wash with deep fill as well. I’ll be back to report more. So far so good. For the record: It’s NOT too loud. Don’t know what’s up with the reviews and hysteria claiming it’s too loud. Sounds perfectly normal to us. My mom, my 2 adult kids, and me.

It's a wonderful machine that's easy to use, fills up with water, large capacity, cleans very well, extracts water very well for shorter drying time and as you say NOT too loud. I don't get it. Everyone sure has sensitive ears that's complaining about the noise or maybe it's as you say hysteria.

I've researched extensively, and compared to other units, this line does seem to be the best overall in terms of its well roundedness. And yes, it does have options for a deep fill and deep rinse, which others do not. And it agitates better than the Maytag and Whirlpool units of comparable specifications. Not saying it's fantastic, but best all around.

Came back a year later to say that dear mom passed away last September. The girls still live there and use the machine weekly. One word of caution, I had GE washers before that broke the transmissions very fast, so don’t wash large heavy rugs. It can handle several smaller sized ones just not anything bigger. It’s still quiet , has its own room with a door that closes but we’ve never heard any loud noise. I live next door and I personally own a Maytag commercial that is crazy strong but not as large and also doesn’t have more than 2 sized selections. It does fill up all the way and has a short strong cycle. Hope this helps .

I live in the south with high humidity and my work clothes get saturated with body sweat. Washing them in a HE front loader would not get them clean due to lack of water. They would look clean and smell clean but as soon as they got damp they smelled like a wet dog. I couldn't stand to smell myself. I looked at numerous top loaders thinking that would be the solution. WRONG! The newer machines don't use adequate water or agitate enough to get soiled clothing clean. Do the powers that be think everyone works in an air conditioned office? I went to a local washing machine repair/salvage/resale shop and bought an "old time" washer. It has 3 water levels and an extra rinse cycle option. High water level is just inches below the lid and it agitates the heck out of my work clothes getting them very clean. It only had a 90 day warranty but has been working for close to 2 years. This was the best purchase I've made in years.

I know I’m probably late to this, but the type of detergent you use will also play a role in how clean the clothes feel or smell. This is where Persil and Tide tend to stand out. Persil is my personal preference, but they both break down enzyme and bacteria left in your clothing from Sweat and BO. This results in your clothes not smelling sour after they get damp. Just something to consider. But washers do play a major role in whether or not your clothes smell/are clean.

I just got this machine about 2 weeks ago. I used this video along with, probably all of the others, to make my decision. I like it much better than my front loader I had. The fill level is fine in it. The drum is so wide that it still has plenty of water to wash a very large load. Also, the sound is louder in the video than you hear in actual use in a real home environment. It's probably louder in my garage with all the hard surfaces near it than it would be in my house where the sound would be dispersed and absorbed by softer materials like linoleum and carpet that are nearby.

This washer also does something very strange. If you have very low water pressure and and your machine only fills up a few inches in the designated time, it will start to wash ready or not. Most machines will stop filling based on water level, this one starts washing after a given time, if you have low flow rate it will not wash properly. Dont get me wrong, it does have a pressure switch to turn off water if the level is too high. I really appreciate your comment!!!

I find these GE washers have larger drums that the Whirlpool variant and i like the Agitator design but i also find it sounds unrefined and loud compared to the WP. The agitator is not as smooth meaning how the upper agitator sounds and feels cheap / lose where as . You see the upper agitator wobble more during spin that the WP version and the WP also seems like it turns way easier like it glides. To me this machine is great but has a slightly cheapish build to it and i don't like how it fills i rather a flat stream of water than the waterfall style i think that will restrict fill speed. I think the deep fill button may work for the precise fill option or select cycles. Would love to see GE refine the drive system to be quieter / smoother, refine the Agitator action a bit and maybe do a digital control panel with buttons and a display. i just may buy one of these here in trini if it gets cheap enough.

First, thanks Kirk Rivas for posting this video because my new washer made/makes so many strange noises and behaves (what I thought to be) so erratically I was going to call GE/Lowes and either return it or get it fixed ... but it behaves just like the one in this video. The really good news is that it fills to the top and uses plenty of water to effectively washe the clothes which includes heavily ground in soil from gardening. My whites come out stunning (I use OxiClean powder in addition to detergent). My previous washer was GE's ten year old predecessor version of this washer and it was quieter but would not fill with enough water and I was sick of having to haul five gallon buckets to fill it up. The one serious flaw in this machine is that the spin between the wash and the deep rinse is only about 2.5 minutes and at fairly low speed so detergent is not properly removed before rinse starts leaving the clothes soaked. You can see the result in the video by noticing that there are suds floating in the rinse water at 53:46. My previous GE went to the same maximum 700 rpm spin speed (about 4 minutes) between wash and deep rinse. To accommodate for that, I just set the thing for two deep rinses to ensure removal of all detergent residue. That being said, since the washer comfortably holds such incredibly large loads, I'll be doing only about 60% as many loads of laundry per week so it's essentially an even trade off. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not use the spray rinse options - use only the deep rinse option - because the spray rinse leaves way too much detergent residue in your clothes. (see Kirk's other video of this washer without deep rinse and see how little water is used in the spray rinse cycle.)

Would you be able to tell me what temperature cool and warm are in degrees F? This machine as I understand does not have an internal heater and relies on mixing the hot and cold fills to do it. But I cannot find anywhere what the wash temperature is. It will be based on the hot fill being set somewhere between 120-150F. If it is closer to 150 then warm will be warmer than if it was set to 120. If you have an IR thermometer you can measure this since this machine works with the lid open.

I wonder if your lid stays locked even after the spin cycle is over & it's in the rinse cycle...? I have called Lowes to have them pick mine up. Thus far, I do NOT like it. When my load was finished, there was fabric softener all the way down the agitator, & some in the bottom of the tub -- and I DID do 2 rinses.

  • @paulmartin8271

    @paulmartin8271

    8 ай бұрын

Yes .... that lid lock is ridiculous ... stays locked because there is no brake when you open the lid while it is spinning after the spin cycle is over. Since the spin cycles between wash and rinse are inadequate in terms of speed to force the fabric softener to dispense properly, the ONLY way liquid fabric softener works in this machine is to dump it directly into the final deep rinse water as if fills. Just one more example of the poor engineering that went into the design of this washer.

Could you please let me know about that....cause I like to see how the wash is agitating and if it needs leveling. most washing machines have a magnet in the lid in the upper right hand side, if you open the lid then put a magnet in the right side corner closest to you, where the lid closes into, it will continue. i use a fridge magnet or hide a key case that has a magnet and that works.

I've had mine since Friday and hate it already. My old GE 1 that i got in 2013 wouldn't fill enough water to wash large loads, but spun great and i always used the Drain and Spin feature again at the end to drain more before i dried my clothes. With this new one it won't spin on deep rinse without getting off balance and Spin light flashes? It's level because my Husband put his level on it. Lowe's didn't even check before they left. I've washed 3 loads of clothes and washed on Whites on Normal and even tried Whites on Heavy on 2nd load later and again today. I get plenty of water to wash clothes setting it on high or Max level. But draining and rinsing is driving me CRAZY!! The spin light flashes and have to run drain and spin 3-4 times to get it to spin right?? Today it was worse and didn't wash near as much in a load and had to take some clothes out before it would spin on high. Not even doing this every time i do laundry...

So the washer still runs with the lid opened? I like this. I am getting ready to purchase this washer. But still not sure about how to control the amount of water. Based on what I see in this video, there's too much water going into machine, and also, the agitator seems to go slow. You stated at one point that the clothes will move from top to bottom, I cant tell in this video. What cycle do I use to make it agitate faster? I had had a Kenmore and I loved it and it worked fine for 15 years till the motor died 3 weeks ago. I was unaware of the new technology at the time of my new purchase of the LG HE and do not like it at all. It takes way to long to run a load of clothes and doesnt seem to be getting my clothes clean. Its going back due to delivery issues. So now Im not sure what to buy.

Our washer suddenly died, during pandemic, we were desperate. Got an LG delivered, top loader, impeller, 4.5 cubic ft, sight unseen. Had to take what was available at Lowes immediately. Spent the next 30 days researching, wanting to return it, came to the conclusion that they all do this same thing these days, so kept it. Was seriously considering exchanging it for this GE washer, but the loud cheap sounding noise and lots of complaints about that turned me off of it. I am learning to deal with the LG. At least it is not a lemon (I have read too much!). I have learned which settings work the best, and use those. Deep fill, extra water, extra rinse, bedding, heavy soil. Don't think bedding setting needs to only be used for bedding! Oh no! And I thought an agitator was needed, but realized they aren't the same anymore either. I also think the gov't is wrong thinking any of this conserves energy. The cycles are long, we all use the most water we can. It is all b.s. in my opinion. I just feel better not thinking about it constantly. It drove me nuts. At least this machine is quiet, and looks and feels nice. I am working on convincing myself it is good enough!

I have the 2015 model and it has to be replaced (luckily under the Geek Squad warranty) but likely from two moves damaging it some. This is literally the best washer and I'm replacing it with this one after looking at the new LG with an agitator and new Whirlpool HE with an agitator. This just gets things so CLEAN! The newer ones from other brands aren't the same. But most importantly, I like that I can choose load size and if I need a little bit more water, deep fill adds to it. New models from other brands are either precise fill or full machine and a machine full of water for a medium load is just as inefficient as a huge load with barely any water. Clothes need some friction in the washer to loosen stains, but need the water to actually clean them and rinse them clean. It's like people can't determine for themselves how full the machine should be... it's just going to cause people to use MORE water! This is the perfect machine and I hope they don't stop making it.

One important question though, how did you override the lid lock to get it to run with the top up? From looking at the upper lock piece at the store, it looked like it can just be unscrewed and removed, as there didn't seem to be any wiring or magnets involved, so I'm not sure if you did that or something else. It's an older video camera, Panasonic AG-HVX200. When it was new it sold for over $3,000, but I bought it used a couple of years ago for under $600. I like it because it shoots in 24 frames per second for cinematic effect and you can over ride most of the auto settings. I like making my own adjustments on the camera. I got interested in video cameras because I wanted to film my sons' baseball games and events. I work a lot of hours and miss most of my sons games, but when I get a chance to go I want to film the game/event in its entirety for keepsake. It shoots high quality video but does not support full HD. It can shoot up to 1080i and 720P which is fine for my purposes. The really expensive video cameras shoot in 1080p and 4k. For fun I sometimes bring out my super VHS video camera to create an old school setting when filming really old washers. It will be while before I can afford to buy a high quality video camera that can film in 4k, so i make due with what I have. My setup includes a lamp mounting to my video camera and I use a decent tripod ($200)while filming the washers. Phones can probably shoot better video, but this is much more fun.

Something else that I found tremendously helpful was I went back to using my regular detergent. NOT that HE basically sudsless stuff. The suds are from surfactant. Surfactants are what lower surface tension and allows the water and soap to penetrate deeper into the fabric. When people have to strip their laundry they are basically filling their bathtub with detergent they should be able to use in the washer but can't because it takes more water to rinse out the suds and DIRTY water. Before the new HE, wash a jumbo load with a coffe cup full of water machines, the detergent, amount of water PLUS agitation did a "strip" every time a load is washed. Soaking your clean clothes in the bathtub because they have accumulated so much filth is ABSURD! It works but it shouldn't be necessary and with HE models it really is necessary.

My GE dish washer is another story....that thing sounds like a car wash...but these are appliances that are being used for like an hour max two or three times a week....who cares!!!!

How did you get so much water? Mine NEVER went above 1-2 inches below half way. And when I did a normal load on precise fill I only got about an 1/2 inch of water, not even enough water to reach the start of the drum.

Agitation is better than Maytag and Whirlpool regular grade washers. And there's a deep rinse on virtually all of GE's regular grade washers. Winner.

Seems like a good machine for the money, not quite sure of the longevity but it will serve its purpose in the meantime.

My model is the one this replaced. Died at 3 years 2 months old. GE offers no tech support other than to schedule a $100 trip charge then diagnostic fee. With parts it will probably end up costing more than a new machine.

Yes, but much worse and louder. Mine sounds like a board being sawed.
