Not. GTR loses to both of them, both on track and quartermile :) Nissan has NOTHING that comes close to LaFerrari. The distance from the Civic to the GTR is the same as a LaFerrari down to a GTR. Nissan aint got shit. The prime of godzilla is over, accept it and stop being a baby.

Don't make excuses for the GTR. It lost fair in square. Respect for the Civic and the driver.

Apples to oranges. K-series to B-series. Ks will make 220 and even 250 whp with bolt-ons and almost minimal effort--they respond much better than B-series--plus your K24A2 makes 205 bhp to begin with (TSX, right?) The B16B is somewhere in the realm of 180 bhp stock--so even less whp in stock form. A jump to 230 whp is probably around 250-270 at the crank for this engine.

+John Hayes b16b producing way more hp/liter. From an engineering stand point, the b16b is amaaazing. Both engines are actually amazing. Everyone should stop the B vs K deal, why not appreciate both engines for want they are. On top of that, let's not forget the when the b16b, or heck, the first b16's were made. '89 if I'm not mistaken. Credit to the Honda engineers of the that time period.

EXACTLY!! I agree. And yes, you're right about '89. You have to take a close look at Honda motors to see where Honda spends the money. They were never worried about displacement, they created well-balanced, bang for buck, geniously-engineered motors. Though the B18C5 is hands down the cream of the crop B-series motor, the B16A/B defined what Honda was capable of in the late 80's and 90's.

+Cody Carson The stock 1983 Civic produced around 70hp, I doubt that this car has only light mods. Probably a B motor swap, or (what would be awesome) is a K20A. It also still has the door trim in it, so I'm guessing it's not that hardcore of a strip down as well. If you want to go all out, then door trim has to go :p Impressive little car, none the less!

Just so you know, not all RHD Civics are made in Japan. The Civic in the video still has the full dash and door trim, making it hard for me to believe that it has been stripped down to save weight. I am not saying that the car is heavy, I'm only pointing out what I see in the video. I would really like to know what mods were done to this car.

This was interesting to watch and truly an amazing feat for that civic driver. All I really see in these comments is about how the civic is crap too win or how the GTR is too fast to lose. When it comes down to it, the driver matters a lot more than any mod any car has. This isn't some little drag where the outcome can already be decided by hp numbers before it even started. It all comes down to how each driver drives in addition to the car. Yeah, the civic is just a "civic" and the GT-R is the king of all wheel drive, but none of that matters when the driver of that civic can corner faster and corner harder. I doubt any of you guys that talks crap about the civic or gtr could beat that civic driver if given a chance to go against him on a track with a gtr.

the GTR is an amazing car but (if the one on this vid is all stock) they are way too heavy. this civic on the other hand is light af and ontop of that the driver of this civic obviously knows this car like the back of his hand. while i love the GTR i gotta admit...computer systems arent going to match a driver who knows every inch of his car and knows its limits and how to drive the car at its full potential. computers have beaten ppl but theres always that one golden child driver that somehow can beat anything lol

Zyopino GT power also played no factor in this race either. its a fairly technical track. the civic driver was also keeping him self calm by gesturing and genuinely nseeming like hes having a blast. would have made no diffence if they both were in gtrs or all were this driver knows this track. presonall i still like the gtf thou unlike its predecessors in the 34 down to 32 it is very much a hevy car. the stripped down civic had the edge in every corner. the gtr also had a high disadvantage having to slow its own weight upseting its ballance losing what gave it its avantage whitch is purly its power alone

Basically, the Hondas are much better than the Nissans at technical circuits, rather than fast ones. You can witness that on the Super GT as well. Nevertheless, I think a true race is won with glory by "who" can drive better, rather than "what" can run faster. I think most people here might agree with what I said. You're still right: the GT-Rs have always been highway "jets", and you can see once again on a stock NSX-R '92 against a stock '99 R34 GT-R, running on a technical circuit..

Almost as good as watching that video of the miata out driving the r35. Always great to see nissan fanboys get butthurt (even tho i love the r32s and 33s)

I saw a GTR with 3 Hondas behind it. The GTR driver was having a Venti mochafrappuccinolatte, checking some texts, trying to figure out where that buzzing sound was coming from. Might've been going to church in their Sunday best too :P

The man can drive! He knows what his car his capable of and his skills definitely push his car to the limit. Love it and love that track.

I think the power and speed of the gtr are over exaggerated by its legacy, when in reality its heavy and can be outperformed handling wise by a lot of nimbler cars, you can clearly see the gtr woulda won if not for turns, this was by no means a suprising outcome to me, that gtr coulda had 1000hp, it still wasn't a estimated 2000 lb MAX (for that Honda) range nimble car built for track

Straight up witchcraft at play within the wheel wells of that Honda. Curious as to what their suspension, wheel and tire setup was in this race. Whatever it is sure looks to be paying off in all the right places. Great to see a fwd successfully putting down power while holding an aggressive line through the bends. 👌

The driver on the GTR braked too early and looked scared around corners. The civic driver looked like he raced that track for years!

the gtr will always cost you 90k to 100k it does not matter if you spend 40k on a civic, it will always cost 10k

nycpark he probably has a really stiff sway bar at the rear. Stiffen rear suspension parts and you can get it to oversteer with a little weight transfer
