Probably the greatest differential in F/R weight bias we've seen in Wes Coasin's 510 Good observation about the back wheel fitment on the Nomad! Cars experience a fair amount of track rub on the sides here so that became an issue for that build. The competition between the two Audis got so heated I feared it might melt through the initial snow section 😂 Tremendous show once again GTR, and what a thrilling finish!!!

Mama Divosi didn't fare too well on the track, hope they plan to make some modifications to the vehicle if they plan on competing here in the future. Huge shout out to Ironman for keeping the race competitive, great win by Boondox. This is why this channel is as GREAT as it is.

I think the main reason he was able to drift without horribly over drifting is because he was 47g, not 65g. I've seen handling qualities differences that are driven mostly by CG placement if you're over 50 to 55g... and some diecast models are not as sensitive as others.

Cody, for a freshman on Shavano Mtn, you did very well. My gut says, if you move your weight forward, closer to 50/50, you'd see a marked improvement on the drifting. Overall weight is right there, and the suspension (even if it was just the stock suspension) did pretty well down the Scrambler. Hope to see you in a future tournament. I share about upcoming tournaments on my GTR Facebook page first.

I believe the reason he didn't constantly over drift is because he was under 50g (47 grams if i remember correctly). If he was 57g like the Audi's, we would see a drift issue. Crazy how sensitive it is with total weight and weight displacement. are.

Also a quick question, what are your thoughts on wind resistance effects on performance at this scale? Among those hosts & racers on drag strips it appears to be a concern.

@Chris_Hood Sure! I have coworkers who ask me how the tournaments are going. A couple of them watch my videos off and on. As far as the effect of aerodynamic drag on 1:64 cars, I don't think there is anything appreciable or measurable that shows a low profile car will be faster than a van. Although these scaled vehicles travel at the equivalent of 300 to 400 mph in actual scale, the air molecules in which they are traveling thru are the same size. Let's say you want to compare the drag between 2 Hotwheel’s, so you video them and determine that they are moving 1 foot down the track every 0.1 seconds. That's 10 ft/sec. In 1:64 scale, that's like moving 640 ft/sec, which is 436 mph! We get all excited about how fast they go in scaled mph, but the hotwheel car isn't traveling thru the air at 640 ft/sec, it's traveling at 10 ft/sec, which is 6.8 mph. Get on your bicycle and ride at 6.8 mph, and you hardly feel the air resistance.... and you're a full-scale human. Now, imagine two hotwheels side by side moving thru the air at that speed, and you can begin to appreciate how insignificant the air resistance, or drag, is.

  • @gravitythrottleracing

In rounds 5 thru 8, every driver gets two chances to collect extra points when jumping over the train. The extra points vary from +4 to +1, zero if they miss the train. If a driver takes 2nd place in a round and jumps over the train in the +2 section, they would get 3+2=5 points.

Bonjour.

  • @gravitythrottleracing

Much of what you are sharing is right. All the cars in the video are modified by builders who mailed them in for the tournament. Weight has been added to all of them. I carefully laid out guidelines on weight distribution to help their cars perform better on the track. However, different models behave differently. Some models naturally perform better. If you look at the start of the video when each car is introduced, you'll see the total weight in grams and the weight distribution.
