Thanks for putting this out there it was super helpful. I'm getting back into paintball after being away for a while and I'm leaning towards getting the 170R. The only marker I have right now is an old Smart Parts Ion so this will be a huge upgrade.

Good stuff, really helpy! With your hel i have bought full mechanical upgrade kit not just frame! THX! BTW i have got 170 after 160 and i need to say that 170 is a tooootal different. Of course it cant be compared to 3.5\cs1 smooth whush shoots. And cs2 is level more, of course. But my god you feel the signal that ball was shot, not the shot. I mean it does not whispers like top shooters, but for people who likes the feel of shots it is doing the best. The 160 has some attitude to look like top shooters, so loved by most players, but is does its job not so gteat, so you got some really mixed feel of ball, too many different noises and vibrations happaned through the cycle. This just says "im done, press for more" =)

@@jared6163 dude I traded my etha for a phantom. I didn't like it at no fault of its own. It honestly was the pettiest reason too, I didn't like how the barrel pitched up from the body. I stick with my mini for now. And yeaaaa buddy just raced an Enduro yesterday been riding since I was 6

They both feel great, but to this day my favorite PE marker is still the Geo 3.5.

Just coming back to the sport I used an 08 ego a shocker back then. (I liked the ego better then because they weren’t spool valves and spool valves then required more maint. You said you’re a shocker guy and my big debate it shocker or this170 what are your thoughts, which would you choose?

Any planet eclipse you can use straight out of the box , any paint is good it mostly your preference

Do you think an inception design low rise feedneck would be better how heavy is the feedneck with its extra large thumb wheel

Whatever one you buy can you switch the from mechanical too electronic? So if I buy mechanical can I switch too mechanical if I buy mechanical can I switch too electronic ?

I also take my engine out & wipe all used grease off & apply new every monday.... you have to use lighter coat & but my marker fires perfect every time & always has paint shell transfer that I know will build up if I didn't do this

Would you have the WOW effect if you were going from a 09 ego to this?

Big time man. I love the older egos but the technology updates are a huge jump from an Ego 9 to this. If you like stack tube poppets you should check out the LV line by Planet Eclipse. Definitely WOW factor there!

Would you recommend me getting one in late 2020 or wait. Currently I have an axe pro but I shot my buddy’s Gtek 170r and fell in love.

I think late 2020 isn’t a bad idea. PE does roll out with new markers relatively quickly but they are backlogged right now and still haven’t released the mech frame for the CS2 yet.

I bought a 170r about a month ago and oh boy I absolutely love the thing! Shoots really good and really efficient. Worth the money

I hear a lot of people saying the stock barrel isn’t all that great at all as well as the trigger 😕 should I upgrade both?

When I ordered my 170r i got the upgraded trigger and field one acculock and I definitely prefer the upgraded trigger

The trigger on the 170R is meh and I'd replace it. I do think the barrel does the job just fine.

Could someone give me a link to purchasing the Gtek170r Electronic board to upgrade the Mechanical version to the Electronic version

I don't mind the detents, but I am not fond of the antiquated case, trigger and grip ergonomics. I do hate the barrel. Why is it the shit 4 barrel and empires driver x barrels are so difficult to buy different diameter barrel backs for?? Think how many thousands and thousands of Geos, cs1s, gteks, etha 2s, Lv series and eteks that have come with a. 692 or .689 barrel back when most paint is a lot smaller? Just raise the cost of the 170r again and sell it with a .685 FL barrel and a soft case.

Haha this guy is funny talking about the case for both grips fitting in the case.
